Good luck competing against anyone that has any of those things. Also good luck trying to get in pugs considering basically all of them require a higher standard for the content than anything else.
Also means you’re stuck with whatever you decided is your main, even if it’s terrible/not fun to play anymore.
I want to play my hunter so bad, I just can’t bring myself to do it with 8.3… This patch killed alts for me.
We are coming back to the question though, how did all those alts get over ilvl 445 gear with rank 1 essences if this is such a problem.
Because ilvl 445 is low, currently. If you played current WoW, 445 is world content ilvl.
I don’t think he says that as an alt hater, but more for the fact that playing alts now feels pretty horrible considering everything you have to keep up with to play them at a higher level (not just WQs and stuff). Playing alts feels punishing, so it’s more a “why bother?” attitude at this point.
You get rank 3 from completing a quest to have a net follower experience of 4800 (was 6000)
What you were looking at was rank 4, which also requires you to have rank 3 on that character to buy.
Pretty sure the group leader looks at io and ilvl. They can’t see which essence you have.
If you want to do high level content you have to put the time in. If you have more fun doing old mog runs and lfr, you don’t need your BiS essences.
I think people like you are the problem with the current dev team and why subs keep dropping, and I keep ending up in dead shards. You have no clue what an RPG is and the ESSENCE of an RPG, ironically.
You don’t get over ilvl 445 in world content just doing world content at this point in time, maybe in 6 months you can get that but not right now. I normally just do world content and have alts I have been playing almost daily in that content from the start of this expansion and they are just reaching ilvl 440 now. The only character I am getting ilvl 445 emissaries on is the character who did mythic plus 10s for a few weeks.
Maybe you should stop trying to answer for him.

and again, incorrect since RP shards in current content are not sharded just to your server.

You mean the expansion that had Artifact Weapons were you basicly had weapon progression? I take BfA alt unfriendly-ness that an expansion being OFF SPEC unfriendly.
Its designed to keep you logged in. If you complete all content, you become bored and move one to different game. With out your game time blizz has no business.
Subs are monthly, time played is for investors. But yep, Blizz going public trading and all that made it a worse game company.

It’s not ok, the time-gating is one of the worst design models although sadly a very clutch one as Bliz doesn’t have better ideas apparently.
I grinded out my rank 3s on 4 alts before 8.3 and it was horrible. I am sick of Bliz making alts un-fun while -also- relying on alts to extend their limited content.
I dream of a day where WoW is more like FFXIV in this regard. Where any race can be any class, where a single toon can be multiple classes, etc. I probably have better chances of winning the lottery than this ever actually happening, but one can dream 
Oh yeah, it would suck to be stuck with only one character. What I mean is, the game really isn’t set up for multiple characters at the moment. I usually play 3 characters at max, but just doing one is enough of a chore these days.
