I keep reading that Blizzard fixed this memory leak but what is the fix? is it a console command or what?
I am still having memory leaks every time I play wow, after I check activity monitor wow is 33GB and if I play longer it reaches 200GB or more. My laptop has 16GB of ram.
Is there any fix for this? thank you
once it reaches really high numbers like 180GB it starts to automatically open a window because my PC is telling me to “force quit” the application thats using too much memory (in this case WoW). If I don’t then it will freeze my PC and I have to hard restart it.
Haven’t experience this myself, but that sounds extreme. Do you have advanced combat logging on? Or maybe some rogue addon that’s no longer getting development updates?
I believe there were different ones. Right after one of the Season 3 patches they had a mistake where a data structure they used wasn’t being cleared often enough so it would keep growing. They fixed that and you didn’t have to do anything special.
I experienced this and it went away after they fixed it.
I believe there were some issues with DX12 where switching to DX11 fixed them, but don’t recall if they were memory leak related or not. If you are running DX12, try switching to DX11 and see if the memory problem goes away.
if not, then maybe try a full UI reset (not a reload, that doesn’t help) and see if that changes anything. You could have a corrupted UI or a rogue addon causing the problem.
Post a DXDIAG so we can see if everything is up to date and to look for other clues. Simply having an old version of windows or drivers can cause issues like this.
Also, disable/uninstall(sometimes disabling isn’t enough) any non-windows defender related security softwares. Sometimes security softwares will interfere with requests to unmap addresses in memory.
