What guild names do you remember from years ago, and why?
I’ll kick it off.
Though I’ve never been in one, I enjoyed and hence remembered, the guilds with names that made me chuckle, or burst out laughing:
Pretentious Roman Name
Bread Vendor
Get In the Car We’ve Got Candy
PvE Clickers
Non humorous name guilds I remember:
Nightfall (Sentinels) - a guild filled with magic that I will always love
Reckless Will (Sentinels) - our arch enemy on Horde side - great RP’ers - I will probably always love/hate them as well
Hitchhikers (I can’t remember the server, I was too new to the game) - the first guild I ever joined - I was wildly impressed because a tailor in the guild gave me the first green I ever owned - probably brown or white linen robes - I felt horribly embarrassed, indebted, and grateful because they wouldn’t let me pay for it.
Mors Certa (Spirestone - the first time I joined a server on launch day)
it had an adventurous crew who raided Deadmines for desperately needed gear when we were mostly in our low teens. We died a lot. I also remember wiping on the raptors in Wetlands with these guys. We didn’t know much. But we were spunky.
In these days of min-maxing, it’s good to remember the magic and the adventure of the early days. Touching those memories gives courage.
Skys The Limit certainly sounds like an optimistic bunch
I think I misremembered the Get in guild name. I think it was actually “Get in the Van We’ve Got Candy.”
Yeah, there were a bunch that ended up with “Temporary Guild Name” as their tag.
I never saw that one, but certainly would have chuckled and remembered it.
I remembered another one…
“And Two Stealthed Rogues”
Definitely from a PvP server. If I remember correctly, originally it was created by a priest and two rogues. The trio did travel around with the two rogues stealthed much of the time.
I also have a soft spot for the seriously cheesy guild names that you would have thought sounded badass when you were 11, like “Assassins of Death” or whatever.
Back when I was on Khadgar years ago it was always a battle between Epic Weapons Vendors on Alliance side and Plaguechill on Horde for realm firsts. I was never in either, but my bank alt’s guild is Spelling Bee Champonion!
