With the changes being made (no world buffs/harder raid bosses/more mechanics)
I can only assume the stigma against meme specs will become more prevalent. That being said, I would personally enjoy some class balancing, to some degree.
Some people believe that blizzard wont get into class balancing, but it could be argued that if blizzard considers those changes mentioned above, it should be blizzard’s responsibility to buff certain specs, or talents. 
I mean… I want prot pally buffs, but I doubt it’ll happen.

No world buffs alone is a massive correction, closes the gap between top dps and average dps. My warrior with ZG/BWL gear was pushing 500+ dps without world buffs and something like 900-1000dps with wBuffs, while my hunter was doing 550+ in t2.
Can’t wait to see the actual dps range when wBuffs are gone.
Just like in Vanilla and in Classic, peoe will play how they want. It’s a big game.
I don’t think Blizz will do class changes for a very simple reason: they’re lazy. They seem to be putting the bare amount of effort into fresh Classic. Rebalancing would require at least some work, and they don’t seem willing to invest that into…well, any part of WoW. But especially Classic.
Also, it would create yet another version they would have to support. I assume once the Season runs its course Blizz will merge the characters into existing servers. Maybe give players the choice of Classic era or TBCC, or both (though of course for a cost).
They can’t really do that if the classes themselves are altered. So they do little things like world buff removal, no debuff limit, exp bonus. Because they’re temporary. Once they merge your character into existing servers it’ll be like those changes never existed.
Funny thing about that, you can play a meme spec. I did a lot of different meme specs during MC/Ony and was fun.

Well, for the most part, all Classes are quite good. Just not all specs.
I suppose druids, having the biggest variation in possible playstyles, pays the biggest hybrid tax.
This sort of makes sense, imo.
If anything, I think the changes make some specs less of a meme.
Feral performance will go up relative to warriors and rogues.
Shadow priests can actually utilize all their dots.
Pretty much every other DPS is indirectly buffed by removing WB’s thereby nerfing fury warriors the most.

SOM still stinks of ‘no changes’ nonsense. Blizzard is doing the bare minimum to try and make make it compelling. They’re out of touch with the people who want fresh classic(virtually nobody).
Season of Mastery will have less than 5000 players by the end of month three.
Is there a reason meme specs can’t be useful? I’ve read in a lot of places Ret paladins are good utility and a seal, boomkins are a good caster buff, and a feral is a good group crit buff?

As much as I hate to say it I kind of agree, which sucks because i was hyped for this, but at the same time I’d like to play the spec I’d like to and not be punished for it.
People mostly base this off high end speed clear guilds. Outside of that very small percentage of players, those specs while not strong are still useful and taken on raids. From my experience raiding with multiple guilds in all phases of classic, the rogues/Warriors/hunters absolutely loved having feral druids just for the buff, and same with the locks/mages with moonkins.
The most difficult part of having those specs is loot distribution, which will be even harder with the faster phases making for less overall loot. Not a lot of progressing guilds are going to want to give up some rare BiS items to these specs.
It’s very simple it’s very very simple to fix this they just give us Wrath classes With 60 talent points.
This would shake up the meta dramatically It would make your protection paladins and ret paladins viable and even give holy Is paladins.
A form of AOE All 3 tanks would have a taunt and there’s no more meme specs at that point there finish solve easy fix.
Funny enough I’m actually fine with this, I’d rather be allowed to play what I want and have less prio then just be talked down to insulted and spit on for it.
Same. There are still plenty of good non BiS items for those specs to use.
the crit bonus given does not outweigh the poor dmg. We tested it with boomkin and 4 mages, boomkin 4 warlocks, boomkin w/ 3 locks and ele shaman. The buff plus Boomkin dps is still less than both a warlock and mage. That should tell you how bad they are
