Melee slows (DK) way too much

More looking at DK here with their broken 70-90% slow is way too overtuned… I mean let’s use our heads here. It’s 2024 everyone has so many gap closers and mobility. Having a 70%-90% slow is absurd to put it very lightly… These DK’s are allowed to slow you this much while having 2-3-4 pulls? I think we’re getting out of touch here. Nerf these ridiculous slows or give Hunter more disengage and cheetah charges.

hunter is fine

Agree that MM needs some nerfs, gut BM so it’s never playable and make SV the go to hunter spec because it’s the only respectable spec for hunters.

I’ll ignore the obvious trolling here… Are you that ignorant of other players that play a different class and spec you play? It’s like me saying nerf disc, holy, shadow in the ground, everyone only respects r shamans.

I invite you both to play MM pvp (especially against Melee) and tell me it’s fine again.

I agree. Nerf hunters to the ground.

I’m not sure anyone needs slow nerfs atm, especially with the amount of instant casts, mobility, and precognition being in the game.

Tuning definitely needs to (and will) happen, but let’s see what lvl 80 with gear looks like first.

That being said, you really shouldn’t be having too much trouble with DKs as a hunter. Between double SOTF wall+heal or pet freedom as well as turtle & disengage, yoh should have a lot of tools to get away from a DK.

I haven’t leveled and play mine yet, but I’ve been 2400+ on hunter and have never felt like I couldn’t kite melee effectively.

Are you perhaps kiting too much and not doing any damage? Or kiting at the wrong times or kiting ineffectively? What comp(s) are you playing?

You think it’s bad as a hunter? Imagine what it’s like for the class with the worst mobility in the game (Priest).

That’s not really a fair comparison, though, because you have way better defensive tools, passive tankiness, and self healing than hunter does. Also your CC is harder to stop. Every class has a whole toolkit!

I think it’s funny really how many people are defending it when it’s obviously broken and spammed non stop. I’m just gonna roll dk and spam 70-90% slows and jump on the band wagon til it gets nerfed like everyone else now

A lot of people frown upon fotm rerolling, but I genuinely encourage you to try. I think you’ll definitely find some successes, but also see what other people do to counter your slows. The grass is very much not always greener on the other side.

Just pay attention to what other people do and you’ll learn fast!

Ding ding ding! Just caught you admitting it’s fotm. And needs to be addressed. Lol

I don’t actually think it’s fotm after all the nerfs. It definitely was in prepatch, but the “fotm” specs atm are fury war, feral, frost mage, and aff lock, which are ALL significantly stronger than DK.

I used “fotm” because you said:

Which felt like a good definition for fotm rerolling.

I don’t think so at all. You’re more than welcome to try it out, though!

I’m not complaining about priests I’m just saying I might as well just stand there because we’re not going anywhere. As a priest you just get used to playing most of the game in slow motion.

Not very effective as priest though, gotta fear bomb the heals and they won’t grow roots unless they’re bad. Fade with phase shift is amazing for kiting.

I admit Void Root sucks BC you can kill it in a few auto attacks. So a tool you’re supposed to use for kiting can actually charge up some procs for the dps that you just rooted to unload on you for some extra damage at what could be a very bad time.

Oh I am well aware of my toolkit, I do ok into them with enough haste. But fade only gets you so far then you get gripped. There is just no point in trying to run if you’re being targeted, especially in arenas. I have to rubber band just to get enough space to hard cast anything and keep them away from your healer. Like fury wars and rogues, just have to learn to survive at 20% speed.

Sometimes you have to dig deeper than the topsoil, but you can always find the “my class is too weak, certainly it’s not me” portion of the complaint posts.

Ugh you’re like the whole package. Cringey, whiney, complaining about balance literally days into an expansion.

Yikes.

It varies with comp, but if youre getting stopped by melee, it can be really good to just double fear the melee and stun+silence the healer and kill the healer while the melee are feared and the healer can’t dispel.

Depends on the class. Useless vs ret/ww most of the time, but it’s absolutely brutal into stuff like DH that would normally just self dispel. Also, classes that have proc-based damage like war have to use their rotational big damage buttons to kill the roots. Sometiems it’s clutch, other times people don’t even notice XD

This is something that I think a lot of people struggle to understand, especually newer players to a class. They think, “oh melee on me hurt. big dam. Must move” but in reality they’re just letting the enemy dps and healer do whatever they want and fall even further behind because they’re running instead of getting damage out.

Yea I get rage whispered by healers a lot in SS for doing this. They’re always telling me to learn to LoS and crap. There is no LoS’ing an unholy DK, just keep your range and heal me because I am not going anywhere lol! I am no pro, but I got to 2100 on my main in SS I am not a complete newb to playing this class, but it’s certainly frustrating not being able to move when playing into pretty much every melee class right now.

Oh, you DO need to put them in a bad spot still. It’s not worth kiting them, but you need to move (even if it’s waddling or with fade) to a spot where their healer can’t just safely pillar and heal them 40 yds away. That way you can at least punish them for treating you like a target dummy.

It’s all a balance, and positioning is the hardest thing for people to learn!
