Hello, I haven’t done arena much and was curious what is better for beginners: melee or caster? And if possible what classes/specs would be good to dive into? I’m not going to mythic raid as serious next tier and am going to try to pvp more. Bgs, rbgs, arena, etc.
Thank you.
what ever class you pick - they will nerf or fundamentally change the playstyle. Pick anything.
Do you have a list of classes or specs you’re currently comfortable with ?
sorry i am jaded - melee is easier, run 2’s for awareness/CD training.
in order of easiest to succeed with the #1 being insanely easy
demon hunter >>> dk > arms warrior
destro >>> fire mage >

I know things will change, I’m asking for beginner stuff. I don’t need to play what rank 1s are playing I’m not that skill level.
I’ve played Druid, mage, hunter, and ww in raids over the past expansions. I have a warlock and dk I mess around on. I’ve tried to play mage but just die it feels like.
I have almost every class at 120 so I am open to anything. I’ve considered rogue, but have 0 experience and warrior seems interesting as well
if you intend to do a lot more 2s than 3s i’d recommend a melee
not that destro is bad by any means
My favorite specs are frost mage, affliction lock, frost dk, ww, and feral. I know a lot of them aren’t good right now, but I’m looking for something long term.
Of that list. Frost mage is very forgiving. The slows alone is probably THEE most caster friendly. Because you’re keeping melee slowed to death.
Both strong in PvP and PvE usually.
WW monk for melee option. Although more “difficult” than your other specs you’ve listed. You can find good success in PvE and PvP. Worth the time investment to learn the class well.

I just used my shadowlands 120 boost on a DH
I was torn between a lock or a mage then i looked at my Steering wheel for racing games and was like
DEMON HUNTER

Thinking about doing something new: either warrior, paladin, or SV hunter. What are your guys thoughts for beginner. It would be for dps.
What rating you hope to achieve? Are you doing 2s mainly ? 3s ?
Also using voice or no voice.
If it’s 2s and no voice. Paladin.
If it’s 3s and voice or no voice. Warrior.
honestly
people will say “world of melee craft”
but in reality
destro locks can stand in middle of map and just smash head on keyboard.
u dont believe me do you?
watch the arena world cup and see for yourself.
i rec that u try destro lock
- harder to kill than a tank
- hit harder than any1 else in the game
- no sense of positioning required. just spam ur buttons and stuff will die
srs. not even joking.
besides that… dh, dk and rogue r very good and fun

I want to correct you for melee as dh>rogue>dk>arms warrior but there have been some rogue players I’ve fought that really struggle with the number of cc’s rogues have to manage alongside carefully using their defensive cds.
Rogue is the most complicated but also the most forgiving.

Hopefully 2k and 3s but also 2s. Depends what games I can get
I don’t agree with arms warrior being the hardest melee. It’s definitely like surv hunter, feral, or rogue (when it isn’t completely busted like assassin)
you mean easiest?
arms in the past when it operated as a strong team utility spec that required you to be a little more proactive
and punished you really hard for positioning badly due to cooldown based mobility and defensives that can be played around
and actually took a bit of talent to do solid damage
sure i’d say it was a pretty impressive spec to be good at
but atleast in legion/bfa arms warriors that charge first global off their mount, use heroic leap offensively 12 yrds, and dont play disarm/banner EVER, and DR stormbolt healers as a kick while TSGing something or even stormbolting their target on CD for no reason
have gotten several stormdrakes and protodrakes without knowing better
EDIT: oh you misunderstood
‘easiest to hardest’ just meant 1st easiest 2nd easiest 3rd easiest
not easy-easy- opposite end of the spectrum
arms is the third easiest spec, behind dh/dk though assass could squeeze into 2nd or 3rd place without too much arguement
gotcha my bad haha yea that really through me for a loop. for some reason i thought you meant dh easy. dk medium. arms very hard lol
yea sin is very much a meme. ive always hated it
I’ve played many classes for years up to (but not really past) 2k
Melee is easier in general, because casters have interruptions and cast times to worry about. Melee just hit buttons and damage comes out.
I mained rogue for maybe 5 years and atm, it’s an extremely easy spec to play in sub 2k 2v2.
Casters are more difficult. If you can’t get a cast off because you’re trying to survive and you don’t know how to set up for a CC (because you’re in danger of your poly/fear/hex being interrupted), then you’re going to die very quickly.
Playing caster will give you more awareness and discipline. Playing melee is more fun and you’ll be more successful, most likely.
