Melee hunter ptr

New epic swords feel pretty good, cobra slayer move to hands seems like a bad idea. You essentially now block carve. Consolidate flanking strike and bm rune would make more sense. Make duel wield baseline since it really does very little now after nerfs, move cobra slayer to boots - and a hunter would pick between trap launcher for range spec and cobra slayer for melee.

i like where they are going with melee hunter but the damage still isn’t there, it won’t be played like this

I think with those changes it would at least be competitive - doesn’t need to be top dps just decent to good and it’s fine

I feel they should add a much higher chance to reset the cooldown of raptor strike, even with a lot of testing, I still have downtime in my abilities, and it feels pretty bad. Now with the new set bonus, if we cannot chain raptor → mongoose, our dps falls off really hard. If a mob parries raptor strike / we miss, dps is then completely screwed and rotation is gone. I’d love to see a 50% chance to reset raptor strike CD / adding a defensive + offensive CD such as having pet beast wrath giving the hunter bonus to damage, and turtle aspect for SOME survivability.

The damage is definitely there. Both 2H and DW Pet/Survival variants all aim higher than Ret in every situation currently and melee Hunter only gets better in P5.

New Hunter exclusive 1h set, Asskandi and Aspect of the Falcon are all buffs for melee Hunt. As gear gets better and set bonuses become more refined, Melee should be less reliant on pets and traps, playing more like an Arms Warrior ironically.

Yes, the spec identity still needs a lot of work but it’s getting there slowly. I would like to see Carve apply Serpent Spread for better AoE.

I wish they’d just look at current retail Survival Hunter and take some light inspiration because retail has perfected melee hunter.
