Yeah, maybe I’m placing too much value on Nesingway by taking it over alpha predator. Honestly though I wouldnt be surprised if the meta ends up giving up the final row on the class tree by having to invest 2 points into Improved Mend
so it appears coordinated assault and ks procs are too deep or too far on the left side of the tree to reasonably go for, huh?

Ya, plus coordinating assault seems to be changed to not be just a 20% dmg buff.
I’m interested to try it, but honestly Mongoose builds always benefited from lots of haste, and I don’t see us getting access to that until later in the expansion.

Spearhead looks really good. Also there is another build built around kill command resets proccing kill shots that could be interesting.

Doing this again, hope blizz folks get the point. The only thing I would like to share is there are too many 3 point thing in this tree. Drop them all to one. The rest of those points I hope to put into “Buffs” that beef me up to help me survive. I am after all a survival hunter that does melee.
It seems that the aoe builds for sv are either gonna revolve around butchery or wfb
Kill shot is basically useless in the current iteration of the talents. It’s a 3.75% chance to get a kill shot proc from kill command if you play all the talents to increase the proc chance. I don’t know why they didn’t just add flayed shot and call it a day.
Also the survival tree has the weirdest talents and they almost all take 3 points. Playing tip of the spear with mongoose bite seems so silly. Make you pick one or the other for a single talent point.
Coordinated assault seems useless and so do the talents that stem from it. Why does the CA talent affect kill command when the new CA only effects carve and kill shot?
Why is the focus increase talents on the left side for the kill command build instead of the side with mongoose bite. And the talent for kill command is on the right side where mongoose bite is instead of where the kc talents are???
I don’t know the survival tree seems rushed and it doesn’t synergize very well. Also 3 talent points for 3 yard extra range lmao.
The hunter core tree looks pretty solid though so good job to them for that.
Not to be a buzz here or anything but with the double stacked low % it turns out to something like a 3% chance per KC to give KS. You’d be a madman to make a build around this.
Overall I am quite disappointed in the lack of actual interaction between abilities/talents in the different possible builds… We have the extremely rare KC->KS interaction. We have the weaker imitation of Wildfire bomb reduction from carve that we have today. We have the KC resets itself being kind of an interaction. And that is pretty much it?
The two main builds seem to be revolving around either Mongoose windows with for example Spearhead to boost the window or a weak wildfire bomb AoE build that relies on weird interactions with talents to reduce the CD with carve etc. Kind of like it was in Legion I think.
With that said, I am not surprised and I’ve stopped trying to figure out decent builds because we have 32 talent choices and 31% of those are 3 point numerical increase talents and then we have 19% which is 2 point talents, most of which also is just numerical increases. Until they actually give us some real possibilities to make builds with interaction, good gameplay and that feel complete I’ll just contemplate going over to rogue, they seem to be getting a ton of love in DF, or BM hunter which seems to be getting some good ideas, even though it sadly still mainly revolve around barbed shot, KC and beast cleave and nothing else.
I agree! The tree is just 2 old builds taking up half the talent tree, the rest is 2-3 point talent picks just there to fill out the rest. And even with that it’s barely 32 talent picks…
I would honestly like them to remove wildfire bomb as our go to AoE ability and make more interesting abilities/talents interacting with butcher and/or carve. And perhaps move back traps in some way? traps is so core to the class and spec yet is utterly ignored.
And I’d also advocate for them to completely remove Kill command from survival. It’s such a big part of both survival and BM hunters yet for survival it’s just a weaker copy. And it’s such a boring ability to press! Make us use something else for focus building and to be our “pet cooperation ability” like flanking strike or such.
Having the whole spec revolve around a grenade and a weaker borrowed ability from beast masters just screams of “we have no idea what survival is!” to me.
I am thinking spearhead might by for the melee focused single target build whilst. Then you could pick up some points into the wildfire bomb side if you want to retain a playstyle similar to what we have now. Another option would be going for Spearhead and butchery, completely ignoring wildfire bomb.
I will say I do wish they would post the cd times for flanking strike, spearhead and fury of the eagle.
Would like to see a talent where disengage can drop caltrops
