Mekkatorque is an interesting boss fight

I wonder if it’s going to set a precedent for future boss fights though, where Discord or other voice chat is literally required to get through it. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong there but I don’t think there’s a way to do the Mekkatorque fight without very strong communication beyond LFR.

It was also, funny enough, a real eye-opener when it comes to guild cohesion. I was facing a dilemma with this tier because while I liked the guild I was in for the most part, there were a couple of bullying folks I really could not stand. So much that I had them on ignore in-game and on Discord. I’m sure you all have those types in your guilds. There’s no requirements that say you’re forced to like every single one of your guildies, right?

Hasn’t been a problem until this tier and that particular fight though. Imagine the awkwardness when it happened to be the three of us in the robots, lol. It left me with a tough decision to make.

But yep, while I commend Blizzard for a creative boss fight like Mekkatorque, I am honestly hoping there won’t be many more of those in the future.

OK, no you don’t have to like everyone in your guild. But if you are raiding together you all need to be grown-up enough to tolerate each other for the purposes of raids.

I applaud this boss fight and wish to see many more like it in the future. Raiding is meant to be a team based activity that relies on good communication. Fights like this aren’t a problem if your guild is populated by adults.

To be fair, I have talked to my guild leader and an officer about the issue. I’ve been bullied pretty much all of my life and was beginning to feel very uncomfortable in the guild I’ve raided with for almost a year before they came along. Got tired of being called names and got tired of the snarky comments during raid times. I even rerolled on a separate server on a different faction just to get away from it all, but eventually I decided that I didn’t want to let a couple of mean buttheads drive me away from my favorite class and main.

If you have a better solution then I am all ears, but ignoring them was the only thing I could think of.

There’s a WA that automates assigning people a “bot buddy” and gives you buttons to whisper them the colors. You still have to target the right person and click the right buttons, but it works without discord which isn’t an option for deaf players who are in my guild.

It’s on wago.io look it up under the bosses name

i’d unsub and go back to just single player games if they made it so every fight requires me to talk throughout the fight, i like wow but not that much.

the 1 thign hes ever done worthwhile in 14 yrs of existing <_<.
andn ow hes out of the picture (hopefulyl for good)

We needed a new leader for years now :expressionless:

Nailed it. This person is 100% correct.

If bullying and all that truly gets out of hand, there’s two solutions. Either tough it out and simply deal with it, or leave the guild. Both are totally viable options, and both are correct courses of action. But personal shenanigans need to be left at the door when entering a space of combined work effort.

Thing is anyone who’s worked a full time job know’s how to work with someone they may not like, and it’s not exactly hard. You keep communication with that person to the bare minimum and bite your tongue once in a while.

Alternatively you escalate until no ones right anymore and your boss threatens to fire you both just to be done with it.

I guess thats office vs shop though :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re working on Mekka on mythic and it’s easily my favorite fight in BoD. I had to go DL a weakaura for the bots since I’m colorblind, but it’s still a blast.

life’s too short to deal with people you can’t stand.

I love this fight, I hope blizzard adds more fights that require all team members to have to participate an not just move out of bad. It really does foster team work to over come a fun challenge.

No, I don’t and never have in any guild I’ve been in. Like most social circles in life, you will have people who don’t want to deal with, but you put on your big-boy/girl pants and just mentally tune them out.

If you need to ignore them with in-game/app features, that’s fine, but you better remove those /ignores for boss mechanics. At that points, it’s your decisions you made that put a hamper on the guild progressing.

If you really can’t stand those people and refuse to take them off /ignore, talk to your guild officers about the problem so that it isn’t an issue anymore.

You know… actively try to make a situation better.

Would prefer to see more boss fights like Mekkatorque, Oce, and Blockade. The splitting the raid and actually having to communicate with each other, is awesome.

Anyone who complains about “forced to communicate”, isn’t a team player and shouldn’t be raiding, which is heavily teammate reliant.

That sucks and all but I have yet be in a guild where anyone was bullied. I can see them get bullied (although I wouldn’t call it bullying in this example I am about to give) unless they were complete jackalopes and just obnoxious, rude, discourteous, etc. And having been here since the beginning, I have been through plenty of raiding guilds from hardcore ones for many years to now heroic raiding guilds and have yet to see anyone bullied.

Not sure what your raiding experience is since you are posting on an alt but I assume a normal to maybe heroic raiding guild. If people are “bullying you” then why stay? Just gquit and do some research to find the perfect fit for you. You do have to put in some work if you want to find a great fit.

But as for the fight, I don’t get how saying “so-n-so Green. So-n-so Blue. etc.” makes you feel like you will be bullied for talking.

Heroic to Mythic should require communication on fights because they’re the harder difficulties. It’s not uncommon for you to not get along with or like everyone in your group, anyone who works an office job or one that requires you to be on a “team” (which I imagine are most jobs) knows that sometimes you’ve got a person or a few that drive you insane, make your life difficult, etc. I’m dealing with one guy now at my workplace who insists on tormenting me and the other guy I started with, dragging our names through the mud so he can get ahead. It’s infuriating but I want to stay at this company.

Same as you. You want to stay with this guild, and you may need to grin and bear it for some (limited) instances. Hopefully the leader can curb the behavior some, but if it gets out of hand, you have to make the decision of dealing with them or finding another guild to run with.

As for the fight, I absolutely love the ones that require actual communication because raiding is a team activity that involves people working together. LFR and Normal are there for people who want to do the content but don’t want a challenge, Heroic and Mythic should be there for tighter groups that are willing to communicate with everyone, even if some of the group can be insufferable.

I hate heroic so much. Sooooooo much

We put so much effort into doing the robots, and we run into either one of two roadblocks each time.

Roadblock 1: We use an addon (Mekka Robo Helper) to target other players and press the buttons that send them an icon and a whisper of what they need to press. This addon doesn’t work 100% of the time, and there’s no feedback to tell you if they actually saw it.

Roadblock 2: We use coms to vocalize, but then then the coms are flooded with both the robot people trying to communicate and the raid leader trying to call out mechanics.

It wouldn’t be nearly as hard if they did 2 or 4 robots instead of just 3.

That way people could pair up and focus on eachother rather than trying to do this wierd triangle of sending messages.

Or they could just make it like normal.

I feel you on that, OP. Guilds like that are horribly toxic, not worth being in.

Immaturity has no age limit or requirement.

This fight is fun! I especially like the satisfying “ding” after you correctly input a color on your bot.
