Medium pop still has login queue

I imagine they are going to eventually offer free server transfers for this very reason so that you don’t have to abandon your friends. Other than that, this is a community issue. They have to be willing to spread out some. If they put up new servers and nobody wants to leave, you can’t get mad about sitting in the queue. I understand your reasoning but I assume that free transfers from the most heavily populated realms to the less populated realms will be coming. Other than this, the other solution is sharding and and other similar setups and I would much rather have six hour queues than that.

They have addressed those issues with dynamic servers years ago and on retail and the Classic community doesn’t want that. I understand right now it’s frustrating but if you start demanding things like this, there is no going back. They can layer us and help with the initial rush of things in the starter zones etc. but all those layers MUST be removed by the start of Phase 2 when the World Bosses appear so they still are limited in how many layers they can create because eventually they have to squish back down to one. Layers are there to help alleviate the starter zones and the first few weeks. You can’t dynamically create infinite of them because you can’t handle infinite players on a single layer when they get removed. For now, people need to either trust to move to a low pop that your friends will come with you or wait for the free server transfers. Demanding sharding, dynamic infinitely growing servers, etc. now one day into release is how we ruin the game.

The population numbers are relative. Low, Medium, High and Full are based on the numbers on each server. So because Herod, Faerlina, etc. have queues of 20-30k people, medium pop is still technically medium at 10k+ and low still technically low at 3-5k. But they are ALL much more filled than 2004 launch servers with those numbers.

They need to wait for the population to spread out to the new servers and fill them completely. Not just with launch day people but with enough people that attrition doesn’t cause it to be empty by Phase 2 before they can add more servers. I know it’s frustrating and Blizzard does not have a lot of good will right now BUT in this case, they are looking out for Classic’s health long-term and I think they are making the right decision.

I for one have had a guild and a server for weeks. In the 2 weeks before launch i’ve Already formed friendships with these people. I am NOT going to move servers. That’s the issue people are having. New servers after all these plans have been made is useless.

You would move if everyone could without losing progress i bet.
I know i would.

@pandanerys I would like for you to play 16hrs on a character, Then re read your post because this made me pull my hair out of me head bruddah. Kind of feels like you are saying you are in queue its your fault for not re-rolling.

Theres nothing wrong with low pop realms and you do not need to wait until the current ones reach high to introduce new ones. Lots of people like low pop realms for the tighter community.

#nochanges?
Well classic did not have these high pop realms that trivialize the social challenges for grouping.

If we can’t login to the server then it is literally not playable. :frowning:
Last night during the launch all the servers had a queue of at least 8k deep. I hope its not like that again tonight.

I thought Ion WAS Watcher? He used to be. Is he not now??

I’m not saying it’s your fault. I am only saying that if you can’t wait for the free transfers so that you don’t lose your progress, what else are you gonna do besides deal with the queues? They can’t add infinite layers to shorten the queues because eventually they have to merge them down to a single layer come phase 2.

New servers are meant to promote people MOVING to those servers.

EXISTING servers are not going to get any sort of tech enhancements.

So, either MOVE or DEAL WITH THE QUEUES, FOLKS!

Better question is why Mankrik showed medium pop and had a queue of 7,500

Warnings were given in advance about Herod’s capacity.

How long do you think it will take until we get to phase 2, and how many people do you realy expect to be playing during that time?

Thanks for the explanation! So people on realms that are labeled “Low” really shouldn’t be worried because they’re being compared to Herod and Faerlina.

Yeah Stalagg said that the population was high login and there is a Queue of 1450ish 6 min wait not bad I say to myself. Then here we are 1/1/2 hrs later at queue position 1293 wait time 4 mins.

Because 7,500 Queue is CURRENTLY the MEDIUM Pop designation. It changes constantly.

It moves up and down based on comparison with all the other current realm queues.

Even the low pop realms are not low pop like in the original launch. The labels (low, medium, and high) are relative. It’s low compared to the highest. This is why a 3-5k queue realm can call itself low because the high pop realms have 20k queues. They don’t have to wait for them to reach high but they do have to wait for enough people to join that the lowest pop realms that DOWN THE ROAD, they don’t become ghost towns which is what happened on retail and caused them to merge them all and start down that terrible tech path of sharding, etc. They are trying to look out for the long term health of the servers. I’ve been at a lot of launches for MMOs and over the next few days as they consistently add new servers this will be mostly alleviated and then fully alleviated once they allow free transfers from the most densely packed realms to the “low” pop ones. But for now a measured approach in adding new realms to make sure their pops are stable in the long term is the best solution.
