Mechagon HARDMODE (in its current state) will NEVER be soloable

…but it can be 2-manned.

Hello all, I just wanted to kindly inform y’all that if you were thinking of soloing the bosses of Mechagon Hardmode to get a chance at the mount, dont. It’s impossible. (I tried)

In fact, in its current state, it will never be soloable even with full Mythic gear, even with full Mythic gear in future patch 9.3’s raid.
This is because it contains a certain mechanic that absolutely CANNOT be soloed.

I’m talking, of course, about the HK-Aerial Suppression Unit boss.

The special Hardmode mechanic of this boss it that you only have around 55 seconds to hack into the tower, rather than 3 minutes.
Sounds doable at first, until you remember that it takes 50 seconds for a solo player to actually hack it (not including the time it takes to actually GET to the hacking spot), leaving only 5 seconds of leeway time for one to identify the correct tower, go to it, dodge all the traps, and constantly move around to avoid even more traps.
Even when “preemptively” choosing a tower and rushing to it before it reveals which one has been activated (and resetting the boss if I chose the wrong one) I still was unable to make it in this time limit. Believe me, I tried dozens of times, and even as a Demon Hunter, Night Fae, I still wasn’t fast enough.
I eventually had to bring a friend, which allowed us to clear Mechagon Hardmode and finally get the mount (yes, I got it).

But my point is, if you’re thinking about soloing Mechagon Hardmode, don’t. Even with better gear, you will never be able to overcome the 55 second hard time limit. This time limit isn’t increased by gear, cannot be “leveled through,” and cannot be overcome with practice or speed potions. It’s just too small.

I’m not advocating for a change of the mechanic. In fact, I like the fact that some “Hardmode” mechanics continue to be “Hard” even after the expansion is over, I just wanted to give a cautionary tale so that nobody makes the mistake I did and wastes literal hours in the dungeon trying to solo it. Just bring a friend :slight_smile:

Yep. “Bring a friend” is great advice.

Nah, with a demon hunter, you just jump instantly to the top, start channeling, and then destroy the boss in one go.

It was made to be group content, just bring someone else. Also don’t forget the final boss requires you push 4 buttons in a specific randomized order very quickly. Most classes won’t make the button distance. The damage from failing it is instant death everytime.

I.eman you can glitch it out to easy mode the final boss. You just have to reset the boss, then stack right under where he spawns to immediately pull him. Button won’t despawn and simply hit it before he dies and its GG on hertz locker.

This thread is about specifically the hardmode challenge achievements NOT the dungeon itself.

It’s fine if the hardmode challenge achievement is never soloable.

Regardless, just trying to help, you seemed to have misunderstood what the OP was about.

This particular encounter is soloable. I can do it on my mage using nitro boots, invisibility movement speed conduit and blinks so I’m able to start channelling pretty much as soon as he starts his sequence, I hugged one side before killing the add and just assumed whichever side I’d have to go because you really have 0 time even with nitro boots + blinks + invis movement speed all together but it is soloable by mage/dh? I had about 1-2 seconds to spare.

Still literally impossible to solo for some classes in 2023, at ilvl 400+ and level 70. Please fix.

The same case with Nalthor the Rimebinder in Necrotic Wake impossible to solo for the mount. Please fix.

You can solo it. I did it on my hunter and shaman during SL.
