I was against them at first, but my anger has cooled and Iâll be trying out a monk when I unlock them.
Good choice. The fully articulated metal hands make for very detailed and precise strikes.
Hi Coaxial, Iâve actually moved beyond the broken isles and now find myself in tiragard sound. The forums just havenât caught up to me yet. 7 more levels and I can finally return to Mechagon to stubbornly remain until I get my zapper.
I will not rest until I have it
Reporting in!
Greetings and salutations unit Helberg. Itâs so nice to have a fellow Warlock join us. May I ask what shade of green you represent? Iâm demonology myself.
I have a frost mage mecha, but waiting till SL to level my alts.
Our numbers continue to grow with each new unit. Welcome and bring your frosty by anytime for a good chat and a tune up
Mechatos, lubed and ready for stealth!
Weâre glad to have you Mechatos! I wouldnât want to run into you on a bad day in a darkened mechagonian alleyway.
Mechagon prevails!!
Any hints or hopes for further Mechagnome customization in SLâs?
True enough but we rarely have very good hazard pay as a result.
I once thought poorly of mechagnomes myself. It is good to see that perhaps you can be mistaken.
Theyâre now one of my favorite races in the game.
Ah wonderful! Congratulations and I hope to run into you in a battle someplace! Nazjatar is always a blast.
I really need to get on that myselfâŠ
Welcome unit Helbert!
Wonderful! Salutations! You should bring them by if you get a chance.
Iâm waiting for SLs for leveling my remaining alts as well.
Welcome Mechatos! Our enemies will never see you coming!
Prove to our new allies that size doesnât matter when you have tech on your side!
Aside from some separation of eye color and skintones (plus one or two extra) we have sadly not had any news.
Still Iâm sure when the mekgineers (blizz) come around to us we will be wonderfully enhanced!
Mechagon Prevails!
Main reason I made a mechagnome was to open locks.
We are good at that.
Your mog is really nice. Have you considered switching to the rusted look?
There are a couple of new options for mechagnomes revealed so far, mostly inherited from the new gnome customization:
- There is a new head modification to have the standalone cybernetic eye lens. Previously, these were the appearance that any head modifcation showed when wearing a hood or mask, but they were not an option outside of that scenario.
- In addition, mechagnomes are receiving the three new skintones that regular gnomes are receiving, as well as being able to customize eye color independent of face.
- This has not yet been implemented for regular gnomes on the PTR, but it looks like female gnomes and mechagnomes may be getting a purple eye color that was previously locked to a male face, and male gnomes and mechagnomes may be getting a red eye color that was previously locked to a female face.
I have several hopes for future mechagnome customization if ARs get some updates later in the expansion:
Paint
- Saronite
- Copper
- Fel iron
- Additional options
Lens Color (New Category, where applicable)
- Blue (current default)
- Red
- Green
- Yellow
- Burned out
- Additional options
Hair Color
- Some zanier colors from regular gnomes
Modification
- Full head mechanization
- One eye mechanized, one eye regular
- Jaw mechanization only
- Additional options
Arm Upgrade
- Option/toggle for fleshy arms
Leg Upgrade
- Option/toggle for fleshy legs
It seems like asymmetry is difficult to implement for character customization (forsaken are also unable to customize individual limbs). One compromise would be to add a fleshy option for the arm upgrade (e.g., mecha-arms, sturdy mecha-arms, clamps, sturdy clamps, fleshy/non-upgraded) and a similar option for the leg upgrade (e.g., mecha-legs, sturdy mecha-legs, fleshy/non-upgraded). I could see the fleshy option being excluded from arm upgrade in order to maintain the distinction between gnomes and mechagnomes, but adding regular legs could go a long way to alleviating some of the objections raised by people who would otherwise play them.
Oh! I didnât know theyâd added that! Wonderful!
And so much more I hope! Cobalt ghost Iron and as many others as they can add!
Skeletal mechanical body would be interesting. Donât think thatâs likely though.
I was initially against gilgoblins until I actually quested with them in Nazjatar, then they grew on me. Both they and the vulpera had my support, but I thought vulpera were more likely to be the goblin allied race because they were more widely requested and their models were already player-ready. Gilgoblins didnât have the same support and they were stuck with Cataclysm-era models that werenât updated along with goblins, made even worse by their Alliance counterparts (ankoan) having new models even if they were yet another male nelf reskin.
Gilgoblin supporters seem nice enough, so hopefully, their race becomes playable (at least without that one transformation toy) if future allied races are allowed to be based on core races that already have one.
I thought about that, too. Alliance posters kept saying we got âshaftedâ with most of our allied races barring Dark Irons, but goblins got one thatâs not even the same species and is only related by rig. I think undead had it the worst this expansion, though; theyâre the only vanilla race without an allied race, on top of losing both their capital and their racial leader.

It was easy to dislike them prior to their release in Nazjatar since peopleâs experience with them had only been as hostile trash mobs and their models being all cata dated. I think that at the start of BFA, vulpera had been planned for a while because most of the work was already done. However gilgoblins I think at some point during development were planned to be the goblin AR. My suspicion is that they wanted a fox race in wow for a long time or they pairing was made based on ratchet and clank. Gilgoblins have a number of indicators that they were planned as an allied race at one point.

Sethrak had more support, but we got mechagnomes. I donât believe this to be apart of the reason. Both of the groups of people campaigning for Sethrak and Vulpera though were particularly toxic. Youâd have these people who would claim gilgoblin and mechagnome supporters were only supporting them to troll Sethrak and Vulpera fans and those who would constantly say no supporters for either of these races exist to their campaigns constantly putting these races on a pedestal. I donât really hate either of these races, but the ordeal with dealing with the toxicity of these people prior to 8.3 has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Gilgoblin and Mechagnomes supporters are some of the nicest people youâll find among AR support groups on these forums. At least those who legitamently are supporting them for true love of the race.

People often argued gilgoblins and mechagnomes shouldnât be Allied races cause they arenât different enough. However they are pretty much on par with other allied races. Maybe vulpera should have been a core race instead.
Good for open lockboxes and doors without a rogue or keys
Always happy yo open a door or two.
I realize Iâm a rogue⊠but I just use the skeleton pinky.
Rosie warned me that Nazmir was spooky but those blood trolls are just nasty. Glad they die like anything else when you shoot them.
