As a standalone concept I think it’s great, but in context of the other druidic races and warcraft lore I don’t think it would work.

Nope.
I stand by my nope, because if you talk to the Prince as a Druid about becoming all mecha, even he is like “EEEH I DONT THINK THIS IS GOING TO WORK, FRIEND. Here’s some alternatives though!”
Rather than become Mecha, just build Mecha and get inside it! Boom! Gnome Druids at appropriate druid sizes!
Sounds like a whole new class to me TBH, which could be fun.
