Is this because so many players have tried other MMO’s that we won’t mention and realized how toxic the WoW community (In an attempt to emulate Blizzard’s C Suite perhaps?) truly is and to try to get WoW to be on more of a level field as other MMO’s that we won’t mention?
I only ask because I logged into WoW Classic and had somebody /wave and /greet at me and it felt almost foreign, like it belonged in the MMO [censored] and not in WoW…
Again, no offense intended.
Oh yeah, the Social Contract is going to be terrible for the game. Trolls are going to have a field day with it, no doubt.

MVPs (greens) and Council folks don’t work at Blizz and don’t have insight into why Blizz does something unless Blizz makes it public.
It COULD be that other MMOs have been getting more public about policies. I know Blizz has had the policies in place forever, but never really reminded folks.
Really though, I don’t know what made them decide to remind folks of the terms. Usually that sort of thing is in response to complaints and feedback from players. If most MMOs are doing that then it may be that most MMO players prefer that public chats are enforced. I don’t have data to back that though. Only the game companies really would.
Oh, my apologies. I saw the different text and made an association with the blue text. I haven’t been on the forums in years. Last I remember was the blue and green text.
Is there any other text colors I should know of by chance?
(And thank you for the detailed response!)
MVPs are green. There were several differnet MVP programs but it all comes down to being a poster who can provide some info to other players, and can stay within the rules when posting. There is a Tech/Customer Support MVP program and a WoW Community MVP program that you might see posting here.
The WoW Community Council is a new thing made up of people who applied in November/Dec. Blizz picked people from all different types of play styles. Pet battlers, RP, lore, solo, casual, raiders, PvPers, people who make accessibility mods for deaf/blind folks, etc. They post on the CC forum and sometimes Blues reply. The goal is to have an open feedback and reply system. People on it will rotate out as needed or within a year.
I am in 3 MVP programs and the CC.
There are no other colors that I know of. Only Blues are Blizzard staff. Everyone else is another player doing volunteer stuff. (and also posting their own game feedback, chatting on the forums, etc.).

what I’m getting at is isn’t there a form, a…TOS that you had to agree to, to be able to play. So if one is using offensive words that they agreed not too shouldn’t that be reportable?
Context will matter though. I feel like I remember this being said.
I doubt people will get in trouble just for using a swear word.
Maybe Blizzard should take their own advise and make there work place a better place. Kettle calling the pot black I say.

Literally nothing is changing. There is nothing new in the social contract that isn’t already a part of the terms of service.

to bad the definition of toxic got ruined long ago it’s hard to tell what’s considered toxic nowadays. and blizz’s stance on toxic varies so much it’s laughable.
Well it was pointed out to me that they are reportable. I had thought they weren’t because we had that toggle to block them if we so desired.
In other words I was wrong.

I do this already. Tell bad dps they can look on icy veins to learn how to play and they usually blow up and start insulting me. It’s fun to report.
Oh and report the politic debates in trade that turn vulgar
Reporting your posts because i disagree with you, so therefor your post is controversial.
Enjoy your ban.
Maybe don’t share your private info with the internet
“Why does nobody want to play alliance, i cant understand?!”
Why were you talking about your marriage and sexual preferences in the game to being with? Seems a lot of these “issues” come about because people just can’t keep their personal stuff to themselves.
I had a frost DK just go off on me because I didn’t tank the 1st boss in SD where he wanted me to tank it. He was lowest DPS in the group and said some mean and hateful things to me. Then the boss got healed and he immediately called out everyone for not getting their orb. So I just assumed he missed his orb and was shifting blame while screaming at the healer to heal through 3 orbs getting popped at once (melee heavy).
Look here yah pumpernickel squash pushing potato ole, just because some jack wagon be usin words you do like is no reason to burn a biscuit over. Now I’m sure this is just a bad troll post, because there is no chance that a full fledged adult can be as illiterate as you are, and married. So go get a soda pop yah pickled radish.
You keep saying this “they aren’t changing anything, it’s always been in the TOS”
Yes they are just reminding people, but they are actually enforcing it now, I’ve played since TBC and I know for a fact Blizzard have always been conservative with punishments, usually they let /ignore and profanity filter do the moderation, but now in Shadowlands they are actively enforcing things, actively muting people and banning people.
I got a 7 day silence where I couldn’t join LFG or talk, why? because I called my BG team bad lol… 2 people got offended and reported me and I got a 7 day silence, even though I was almost doing 3 x more dmg than the next best damage dealer on my team, I understand they wanna start to moderate the game because of what happened at Blizzard HQ.
I just don’t want this game to become a dystopian ban fest like League of Legends.
and BTW I am going to be reporting people for anything and everything, but hey if you can’t beat them join them can’t wait to get people banned for the simplest of mistakes.
