Day 3 was something else wasn’t it? NoSpeaky stepping up to try to take Missed Count’s (oh I’m Sorry, Streamerzone) second place spot, Mandatory putting on another display of dominance and China finally competing again on the world stage. For someone who doesn’t enjoy M+ himself but enjoys watching good players do it, that Day 3 was one to remember. But…
What is it gonna take for a team to finally dethrone Mandatory? It’s fun watching a team dominate, University of Alabama comes to mind for the sports buffs. But, eventually it gets boring because no matter how hard anyone else tries it never feels like anyone else has a chance. Sure, maybe it’s fun to watch Mandatory dominate another season or 2 but at what point is that boring and we stop watching? We can’t “force” them to shake up the roster which could cause them to take second instead of first sometimes. But, as with any competition out there in any field, no one wants to watch the same team dominate forever.
I’m holding out hope that whatever changes are coming in season 2 will have an affect, but in reality I’m pretty sure the changes are more aimed at the casual key pushers. Maybe it’s a class balance thing, maybe Mandatory has gotten lucky and all 5 of their players have been able to play a comfort pick all season and the others aren’t so comfortable with Aug, or Enhance or Oomkin. Idk, I’m just throwing stuff out. But what’s it gonna take for someone to finally dethrone Mandatory and make watching MDI fun again?
Where do you go (i.e. what web site) to see TGP? Or at least to see results.
Finally dethrone, they have been tops for what one MDI and one TGP? You must have missed Echo dominate for years

yeah, I didn’t watch MDI/TGP religiously, but literally every time I watched in the past Echo won. I had never seen them participate and not win…so at least this time I wasn’t sure who was going to win at the beginning.
Games not an esport. Never has, never will.
I watch on YT because I don’t really mess with Twitch. But they streamed on both during the comp.
And for the others, I should have mentioned I returned in season 4 of DF after leaving because of life stuff at the beginning of WoD. So season 4 was the first experience I had watching. I had heard Echo was dominant in the past and I think they won MDI but didn’t Mandatory take S4 DF TGP as well? Or was that a second for them? Either way, I do remember thinking Echo’s time was ending and Mandatory was stepping up, but it looked like Missed Count had a legit shot at taking the number 1. But after a pretty solid Day 1 they just dropped the ball. Didn’t respond well to pressure. Maybe someone got sick, whatever it was Missed Count disappointed this TGP.
But, Mandatory put on such a display of dominance they literally f’d off their last hour because they had already locked the win (let’s be honest, none of us thought Streamerzone or NoSpeaky were gonna put up the 22 to steal the W) but the one thing this season showed is that Mandatory is legit just a cut above the rest of the comp. As I said in original post, perhaps they happened to have the best AugVoker and learned how to work around him last Expac, or the Meta was just Mandatory favored.
