Mayor Quimby

So. What dev thought this would be a cool thing to put a quest item for a REQUIRED quest on an NPC that has a dozen or so NPCs that will immediately engage you.

No one is killing this group of mobs.

And yes. It is required. Because there are no Pop-up Shrubs on the AH.

Required for what?

You need to get the Pop-up Shrub to unlock the cooking dailies.

There’s no pop-up shrubs on the AH…on Wild Growth; one of the largest SoD servers. Therefore, I need to make my own.

Which I can’t until I do Nondisclosure Agurement. Which requires the Classy Quill dropped by Mayor Quimby.

should check the notice on his podium, its near live updates of the scarlet and player kill counts for the zone.

What does any of this have to do with the fact you need to kill Quimby to get the quill to finish the Engineering quest to get the Shrub to do the Cooking quest to unlock the cooking dailies. Because there are no Shrubs on the AH.

will you be listing a few shrubs in the AH?

Listed 4 on the Seafarer’s AH down by the ship with the fish barrels.

You’re a paladin dude

Yes. And I got it thanks to my ability to be immune to all damage for several seconds.

But Engineering is/was considered the BiS Prof for basically anyone raiding (explosions!!!). So what about the other classes that can’t be immune for several seconds.

Should they just not be able to get a recipe?

BTW: My Leatherworker had zero issues (though I did get killed twice by arrows; which was funny to me) getting his recipes for the quiver and ammo belt. So the difficulty between the two professions recipes is silly.

Ah so it’s not required.

In the grand scheme of things, you are correct, it is not required.

Saying that, if you are a cook though, it is required (from what the OP has stated). I don’t cook myself, so I don’t really have a horse in this race.

?

There were like 3 pages of them earlier.

If you do cooking, which, why wouldn’t you. It’s good money for maybe 3 minutes of work (AHing for mats, cooking, listing).

At the time I checked and the times of my responses here (minus this one as I haven’t logged in yet). There wasn’t any. TSM reported that it had detected 1 listing from when I ran the Auctionator scan hours earlier (than when I posted this topic).

Not hard to believe since this shrub is used once per character to unlock the Cooking Dailies. …and I’m guessing most don’t bother to cook. Even though it’s extremely lucrative.

I killed him first try as a tank, though I did die afterwards to the adds. It’s a little weird that they designed the quest that way but I guess you just need to get a group for it.

So, again, not required.

Me and another dude did this no problem.

Do you really want to go down that road of “this technically isn’t required to play”.

The point is the quest for Engineer’s initial P8 recipes has a difficulty well above that of Leatherworking, and unlike Leatherworking crafts an item that is used to unlock dailies for another profession.

Not everything is the same level of effort for the same reward. Take for instance what it takes to get that LW Moose mount. That quest is so tedious and frustrating. Not everything has to seem like it was designed for your character. Part of the style of vanilla is the inconsistent reward for the effort. Sometimes you travel half the world for a green trinket. Sometimes you do one AV for a cool polearm.

…these were quests for crafted items.

The fact that the Quiver and Ammo Pouch quests were easier than the Shrub quest, which I remind you is a required item to unlock quests for another profession, is silly.

If anything the difficulty “levels” should have been reversed; the LW quests (and presumably the other profession recipes like the new bags) should have been difficult. While the Engineer’s shrub should be easy since it’s used to unlock quests for another profession (or even just to unlock quests).

Also. There’s zero point in comparing the difficulty of a Legion profession quest to a Vanilla/SoD profession quest.

PS: It does actually seem like the quest was designed for my character. Because only Paladins and, from the looks of it, classes that can tank, can do this solo.

I dunno dude, bring some friends or something. It’s not rocket science.
