The fact that these two talents work together feels super insane. I’ve heard in multiple places that they’re not supposed to work together but do anyway. Anyone in the know have more info on that? Either way, I am having a lot more fun playing destro because of this interaction than the other two specs.
The random spread cleave is fun, but honestly the most useful part i’ve seen with it is how often you’re just passively nuking pets. Being able to coil multiple dps and also legions of pets is funny. Getting the proc on a pet and getting just a couple casts off is more than a pet class will be able to keep up with in terms of keeping their pets alive. I noticed it happening to me while playing hunter and started using that as a cue of when to swap hunters when playing on my warlock.
There are a few things cleaving pets super hard right now and it’s not good. Destro/DH/Feral just passively destroy them. I only noticed it when I was messing around with unholy and luckily I could just insta summon a new pet every 30 sec, but it was crazy how it was just constantly deleted with zero effort on their part. Devs really need to fix it.
Bump for visibility and because all warlock specs deserve to get nerfs.

Yeah, soulrend melts pets, as do the full value cleaving feral dots, destro has bane of havoc and fury has meat cleaver. Tabbing pets when they’re just chunked and blowing them up if they’re anything but a raid boss felguard is pretty dece.
Mayhem marks targets with Havoc. Bane of Havoc toolip is broken is all.
This just reads like Pets need some splash damage resistance
Particularly AoE “direct damage” abilities like AoE Rip and AoE ST nukes from bane.
Bane of havoc into a legion of dk and demo pets is intensely satisfying.
I find it funny that Hunter has the most difficult time resummoning a pet currently out of Lock,DK,Hunter. Blizz for some reason awhile back nerfed Revive to be an insanely long cast time and if a Hunter pet dies it basically just forces out Turtle shell just to revive it. So dumb and completely unnecessary. Hunter pet’s should all have phoenix rez baseline on a 3 min CD. If the pet dies it will automatically be brought back to full HP.
Pets also need aoe protection again. Pets currently get cleaved down worse than players because Pets have less HP and no vers. I’d like if they implemented the 99% damage reduction on aoe abilities like dots and cleave attacks. This would force people to single target a pet down from 100-0 if they truly wanted to kill it (this isn’t difficult since a pet can be one shot by most every spec in the game).
WW also instantly builds giga stacks of thunderfist with pets around, although that kills you and not the pets.
I thought that they do, it’s just that a lot of stuff currently killing pets is single-target/cleave.
- Sweeping Strikes, Unhinged
- Soulrend bouncing glaive
- Feral aoe bleeds being 100% effective
- Meat cleaver
And so on.
Stuff like Bladestorm, Felstorm, Fists of Fury, etc, aren’t what melt them.
Yea they have it, but that is protection against like “Whirlwind”…it doesn’t protect against Sweeping strikes, havoc, aoe rot dots etc. Like a pet would take zero damage by a rain of fire, but it take max damage from a bane of havoc CB or Immolate etc. Pets just need more dot protection in general.
Most of the stuff that kills pets right now the other team doesn’t need to target the pet, the pets just passively die from insane rot. Now if you tie in Roar of Sac into that as well? Oh your pet is guaranteed dead since it takes the damage from the crit protection as well.
Yeah, protection from ambient cleave would be nice if they aren’t going to buff durability. Felguard is built like a tank and can be resummoned instantly every now and again whereas Fluffy just passively takes 20k dps and dies through mend/exhil and Hunter who already feels underwhelming defensively has to turtle to rez.

Yea thats the main problem, getting a free turtle shell (which is Hunters main protection sadly) is really just bad design. If they gave all Hunters a baseline insta pet summon ability or automatic pet summon ability along with Pet damage protection against rot/cleav I think it would go a very long way.
Not to mention our Exhil right now is basically used as a strictly pet heal, which is laughable.
More active abilities would be great for hunter pets. Stuff like bullheaded and phoenix definitely have room to make a reappearance. I feel like they could/should also consider untying the pet heal from exhil and making it a separate spell/cooldown.
Yeah, exhil on yourself feels like you didn’t even press anything with damp/ms.
It literally heals me for 5% HP with 20% damp and rogue shiv. Such a joke.
I would actually be completely ok if they took off the 30% heal to the Hunter and just made Exhil heal the pet to full but on a shorter CD…then maybe that opens the doors to giving Hunter an actual real heal that can keep up in this meta.
Because lets be honest Exhil heal on the Hunter is a joke with all the insane MS in the game. Exhil is basically a 2min CD Impending Victory warr heal. I can’t remember what the actual CD on Impending Victory is, but I don’t think it’s 2mins lol.
I think that they were halfway on to the right idea in SL with craven. Making FD a shorter cooldown and giving it a mechanic. This juxtaposes well against things like feint for rogues. The extent to which craven removed literally EVERYTHING was what was problematic about it, because your 15s cooldown could remove long cooldowns and was the only thing that could remove stuff like bonedust brew.
I think making a talent or pvp talent that brings back a healthier version of craven could be good. Make feign 15s and clear roots/snares by default, and apply a 20-40% wall for 6 seconds or so. Marks could use bursting disorient back too.
yea Craven was def way too overtuned, I like the idea of giving us a defensive though that is skill based used without the removal of like every dot in the game (Craven). Right now the high CD of feign makes it almost impossible to feign any real damage coming out of classes right now since sustain is so high.
Mending on Survival helps that out alot for sure because you can cleanse pretty often between Feign/Mending. But yea overall I think Hunter needs more ways to mitigate damage or even bringing back a form of aspect of the monkey dodge would be a great way to mitigate damage.
It might not be a perma monkey but instead it would be a CD for dodge or something.
They should just bring Heart of the Phoenix back (or whatever it was called – the free self-rez for pet). I feel like no one can seriously think that Hunter pets are too tanky.
