My healers must love me in anything but mythics I don’t typically need the healer to heal me. I typically pull fast and don’t really ever die. Everyone else may die to mechanics but word of glory keeps me topped off all the time. I have been tanking though since bc so I know what I am doing.
And thats why i avoid pugs…but i blame devs for designing dungeons like these…
im not reading a problem. there was no wipes so obviously you held aggro and nobody complained about the speed as they were probably happy to get a run with big pulls. seeing high dps releases the happy chemicals for people
On a heroic? I never even heard or changing loadouts in. Mythic plus. Cuz you know you are locked to what you bring. So if say I don’t do that at high 20s why should we do that on a heroic or normal
…?
Extremely conceded view.
It’s said on multiple news sites about WoW and in the patch notes that you can change your talent loadouts anywhere except for Mythic+
To an extent. Nothing worse than too slow of a tank. My old gm was the slowest tank of all time. That’s not any kind of fun.
Ive been tabking since 1.9 go to war with me… i promise ill win it has nothing to do with pace and everything to do with as tank i am the groups pace setter that simple if you dont like it enjoy your queue
There has to be a balance of speed…I’ve just yet to find it.
Some people pull rooms of trash into boss encounters. We’re dodging so many abilities and getting stunned/feared, nobody knows what or when to interrupt or anything. Quite hectic.
On the other hand you have the one pack at a time tanks… one pack…
I guess I’ve been in a couple of groups that did reasonable pulls and finished dungeons in a decent time frame. No 5 packs on a boss fight, but pulling 3-5 packs of trash together and let everyone AOE it down. Just the bad encounters stand out more I guess.
I hear ya dude, all these new dungeons have completely new mechanics like dont stand in fire, kill adds, maybe a stack maybe a soak!!! All completely new mechs we havent seen for the past 17 years a single time!!! I dont understand why people cant just stop before every “NEW” boss so i can read the dunegon journal and watch a video guide for these extremely difficult normal dungeons!!! So difficult so new!!!
Who in their right mind changes loaded per boss inside a heroic dungeons. Stop bringing ridiculous situations that don’t happen ever.
I’ve just heard people be like “Everyone changes their loadout on bosses!” and justified carrying like a bunch of tomes pre-DF. Just thought that was what people were doing…
Cool, I do not give a damn.
… It’s a game.
No, you are not. Go play Classic if you want to be “the pace setter”.
The pace is set by the healer and the DPS in your group.
Well, seeing as I’m playing a healer right now and might tank again on my DK, no, I don’t think I’ll have a queue to worry about enjoying.
Raid bosses not a fragging heroic dungeons lol
It’s weird how Blizzard disliked flying because it allowed people to not be immersed in the world but entire dungeons being a blur is fine.
I can understand a tank that goes at the pace they know they can handle.
But let’s say you have a tank that can handle 8, but he always pulls the smallest amount he can, 3 for example.
And let’s say you have 3 AoE-built dps players. Full AoE frost mage, outlaw rogue, vengeance dh, etc.
You’re in for a long run.
It’s isn’t just the gogogo aspect, it’s the top-of-the-damage mental fixation that the game encourages. It isn’t just a player psychology problem, there’s a reason they are how they are.
I’ve had many runs where the tank stops for 5-10 seconds before every 3 mob trash pull. Everyone has full hp/mana. There’s no reason to take a smoke break.
So, while just like driving on the freeway, you should never go faster than you are comfortable with, even if there are idiots honking and flipping you off, you should also move at a pace that doesn’t unnecessarily hinder the flow of traffic.
And that’s what dungeon finder is. Traffic. From a place of low item level, to a place of higher item level. It’s a scenic route a lot of the time, but that doesn’t mean everyone needs to be oooh-ahhh’ing every time they drive through it. Maybe they live in the area. Maybe this is the 5th car they’ve driven through it today.
People have a place to be. There is a middle ground that respects their time and values your own personal experience, and I recommend finding it.
Now if they’re of the honking and flipping off kind, pushing you to pull 20+ mobs or pull the first 1/4 of the dungeon all the way to the boss, ignore them. Do what you feel comfortable with. Maybe you can handle 20 but it feels less like fun and more like work when you do. Understandable. Don’t listen to them. If you die the dungeon will take longer to complete so you’re doing them a favor.
There’s two sides to this, that’s all I’m getting at.
No self awareness to be found in this comment. Hypocrisy running rampant. Maybe the 4 other people don’t care about your feelings in the video game, you old bitter sh*t.
The dps is a pace setter? Forgive me for having played a lock for WAY TOO long and having enough of a survival instinct to NOT pull packs that i dont want to tank or have in my face while im casting. As fod yiur quip about classic… yeah you mean the era of the game that was actual social and required multiplayer COOPERATION, not stupid entitled people treating the other players like npcs. If you are in thatbmuch of a hurry to run outbof contrnt and be bored to each their own, im clearly just helping you enjoy your bordem a bit sooner
Yes.
Forgive me for not being interested in watching a tank stand in place staring at the floor while trying to “set their pace” for other people. I don’t mind in entry dungeons, but people transition into keys with this, which usually either boils down to not planning ahead or deliberately slowing the run. Nobody’s got time for a tank wanting to flex their “pace setter” mentality.
So there’s no social element and no cooperation between players to achieve goals now, in your eyes? Jeez, I didn’t realize M+ and raiding were solo content apparently.
If the first time you clear a piece of content you view it as “done”, that would explain your entire mentality.
This is usually true, but I’ve also been in many groups where the tank has the highest dps on nearly every pull. Like with a paladin or a druid tank. When nearly every pack is dead before I can even cast my second seed of corruption it feels bad. What’s the point of having dps classes when the tank classes can do just as much damage?
That being said, as an aff lock, it really does suck when the pulls are too small. Tanks want to pull two or three mobs at a time, and then try to tell me that I don’t do enough damage. For some specs/classes the larger the pull, the higher their damage will be.
