Maybe this has been answered but why is combat log useless?

What happened to me?

Yeah, why did I / we all just die? Oh it’s not telling us. That’s helpful!

I remember when some insta-gib mechanic insta-gibbed people combat log would frown and make a note of it. Now, not so much. Why?

It does?

Here’s a random one I found:

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/pygBwnNkaFH36ARt?fight=14&type=deaths

Isn’t that different from just the in game combat log? I think that’s what the OP is talking about. I’ve found the in game one to be useless too.

Possibly, I wouldn’t bother with the in-game one. At least when it’s uploaded you can see a nice breakdown of everything.

Offhand I feel like there used to be a popup that would tell you how you died, what did it and for how much… Was that another game or one of my mysterious addons?

If that still exists, it’s not working because I just died in Sluice because Brann decided one elite wasn’t enough so proceeded to run up the stairs and gather three more plus assorted adds… The LoS use of the stairs was amazing, really. :anger:

Details+advanced death log are going to be better in 99% of cases than anything you could gather from the default UI

This^^ you really need an addon to aggregate the combat log data into meaningful information.

That’s still in the game now, shows the last 5 attacks I believe leading to your death. Problem is there are so many ticking dots and many mechanics that have a dot and a burst component it’s not always useful.

Ha I didn’t even think of Details!. I have it, I’ll check it next time we are noobing heroic sarkareth and not understanding why we are dying despite taking bombs into endless space and picking up brain pieces before exiting.

Thank you. I always wondered what people were using (seen screenshots anyway).
