Maybe it's because I am old

I am getting old and I don’t mean this as in “only old people feel this way” I am sure their are youngins here that feel the same way.

I come from a time where most were just happy with what we had. father was career Marine and we did a lot of traveling which meant that we left a lot of stuff behind and had to start fresh, anyone that is military or military family knows where I am coming from. We had a lot of hand me downs military didn’t pay the greatest wages but it was enough to live on. So we were just happy to have something.

I try to live simple and enjoy the what things that i find enjoyable and World of Warcraft has brought that to me been playing for 10+ years only pay 15 dollars a month since the beginning. I have been excited that the game is still going and look forward to every new expansion that is released. Sure I have had certain things that erked me or i would like changed but overall I have enjoyed it. The friends I have made, the adventures i have had and of course meeting my wife of 5 yrs have brought me back time after time.

I understand people may not be happy with the product and that’s fine but what I cannot for the fathom understand is the outright disdain they show but yet still play, they demand that Blizzard do what they ask. For me it’s like this if I don’t like something than I don’t want it. If I see a pair of jeans I like and buy them and after awhile they don’t fit right,(which happens quite frequently due to an unnatural affliction to waffles and what not) I throw them away I don’t yell at Levi demanding they fix my pants, and if I can’t find another Levi to fir me I buy Wranglers,(thank god for relaxed fit).

I guess what i am saying is lets be grateful for what we have, we either adapt or move on. I have watched Blizzard over the years trying to appease everyone. It is kind of hard for them to tailor make the game for everyone’s needs, there’s always going to be something 1 person likes and something someone else is going to hate.

It is understandable that there is something you might like but honestly the way you ask for it is quite simply childish.

Let’s try to think about the little things we take for granted, after all it is just a video game.

Well that’s my though, again this is not directed at just the young folks there are some old folks out there that act the same way.

peace :heart::heart::heart:

For Gnomeregan!

Agreed, I also try to keep in mind that the people who are content aren’t likely to be vocal about it on the forums, so you only end up seeing the negativity.

Absolutely

If everyone did that nobody would ever know they’re doing something wrong until it’s too late. This is the entire idea behind iterative development so you don’t get locked into whole years making the wrong choices. There is a financial cost to doing all things both good and bad.

Clearly Blizzard, Activision and the entire dev crew want as many people to play the game as possible. Sure, I get the tempered view that expansion lulls should be expected but we can see a clear trajectory of people leaving when things change. Things not story related.

Even the developers have epiphanies about things like the GCD and realize hey, the game plays horrible now. Only far after releasing it which is the bewildering part.

In a drive to get more and more people playing fewer and fewer are. Obviously then we need to let them know that this design is not working. It’s better they know that now than finding out 9.0 pushes half the box sales of 8.0.

“and after awhile they don’t fit right,”
This is apples and oranges; more correct would be “I bought these new Levi’s and the left leg is shorter than the right” and getting a response of “Be quiet you have no right to criticize our product and by the way we have decided to cut the left leg even shorter.”

Blows my mind when I see people on twitter attacking each tweet as if WoW violates their very existence. They continue to follow @warcraft, while taking every opportunity to post their hate of the company and its products.

I’m all for players discussing ways to improve the experience, but throwing a temper tantrum when things don’t go your way is just immature.

No what I got out of this is op saying it’s our own doing. Like the current state of the game is our fault and maybe I somewhat agree.

I will absolutely continue my complaining. This was a product I paid to play. I don’t play today but I still care about the game. BFA has been just terrible (except for the art, I’ll give credit where credit is due).

This game and Blizzard used to be trend setters and innovators. Now? Increase time /played at the cost of fun and keep piling up cash shop items/promos. This is a sad state not only for wow but for Blizzard as a whole.

Idk I think it’s like staying with a partner you dont care about…

On one hand you could go out make effort to find someone new and take the time to learn their ways etc…

Or you could stay with the same person because you are familiar with their ways and dont want to put the time and effort into someone new all while ranting to others about the things you hate about said individual.

Especially if you’re 5 10 12 years time and commitment into this individual.

I think some people complain because they are ultimately very passionate about the game.

It would be nice if more people provided thoughtful suggestions and gracefully brought up issues, instead of doing it in a crude manner.

I’ll simplify it, then. They remember the game being better and would like to see the developers make the game good again, rather than just drop everything and leave, accepting the fact that the devs are either too ignorant, or too incompetent to bring the game back to a better era.

The WOW forums have always been a toxic cess pool, tending to attract anti social malignant tumors of society. Welcome home malcontents!

It’s nothing to do with “being old.”

I grew up as an only child with a single parent and I was taught to work for what I want. I learned the hard way to appreciate what I have. My life is pretty good. Apart from some hiccups, it’s been good for awhile.

But what I don’t get is the stigma some people have on this forum about any negative feedback. It’s one thing to not take someone who didn’t take the time to think about what they were writing and came up with something nasty seriously but I just don’t get the “how dare you say something bad about this game” mentality.

Well I was old when WoW first came out. Used to love the game, but the changes that happened. I do not like it anymore. So I have just unsubbed.

I am old and I was taught to fit in and not rock the boat and all that crap, too. Then I took care of dying people to pay for college and I noticed they all had the same regrets. 1. They regretted just doing what was expected of them instead of what they really wanted, and 2. They regretted not speaking up.

So I speak up. Not just when I have a complaint, either. Also when I like a stranger’s hair or tattoo or car. When someone looks sad or lonely. When I don’t know something I ask.

I don’t want to be dying and have to regret accepting someone else’s definition of being good.

Except that it was not better back then. People’s have fond memories of the past and this really clods their judgment. The game now is infinitely better now than BC and Classic

That’s fine to not like something and ask for change but the tantrums i have seen thrown here astounds me. Like calling the devs ignorant or incompetent that i just don’t get.
