But I’m going to keep playing this game. What blizzard allegedly did is terrible but at the end of the day I want to unwind with what I enjoy doing.
No shame in that. While there are plenty of despicable people working at blizzard there are folks that are innocent that work on the game too.
WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!
Free thought and formulating your own opinon and being able to recognizes that while some people did some bad things that does not deamonize the product itself?
NOT going with the group think?
Sir thats problematic.
Sorry to hear that.
If people really decided to boycott any company for committing some sort of workers’ rights/human rights violation they wouldn’t be allowed to use anything anymore.
You can be extremely disgusted at Blizzard’s actions and still play WoW. You can hate Amazon and still watch Invincible on Prime Video or watch a stream on Twitch. You can hate Nestle and still eat chocolate, and you can still hate Nike and still buy Nike products.
I’ll keep playing. I don’t care what they do there as long as the game continues.
Well then, guess I am a bad person too. I’d rather let the justice system punish the actual people involved rather than unsubbing which might hurt the company but will definitely hurt the thousands of employees who may or may not already be struggling and had nothing to do with any of this sickness. But this is just my take and I would not judge anyone wrong for wanting to unsub if they so choose to.
I share OP’s sentiment.
I feel like I’m supporting harassing females now when I’m not.
You’re not a bad person. Everyone is different, and everyone has their ways to vent.
I heard someone explain to me how they purposely avoid learning about the meat industry because of the convenience and that they just like steak. Pulling back the curtain would expose them to info that would ruin it for them, and when faced with the truth they would abstain from meat. Knowing that, they purposely kept themselves ignorant of the topic.
Enjoy your vices.
Boycotts almost never work, feel free to keep playing.
Don’t be ashamed. I was so upset when I read the news yesterday that I thought that for a while and I was rude to someone I like, which I regret. But who am I to judge? I’m just a regular gnome, after all.
I’m feeling disgusted that people had to put up with this for so long. I feel a little betrayed because I didn’t know about this all the time I played - I had no idea and heard nothing about this. And I feel angry about the realization that they’re slacking instead of working. I was one of the people who defended them for the poor quality of Shadowlands and the lack of communication when COVID came up, because I saw first-hand how covid had impacted my work. But I really wish I didn’t because now I know they were actually just partying and reveling in WoW’s success instead of working to make quality content.
If they replace the clowns with ethical professionals who work hard and know what they’re doing, I’d support WoW again. I feel a little heartbroken because I really care about this game but I’m just so mad that this is what’s going on behind the scenes. I’ve definitely felt a decline in WoW’s quality recently and now I know why. And I’m disappointed. Because I love this game.
Ignorance is bliss, but it’s important to me to confront my ignorance because it makes me a (slightly) better person every time I do.
If I refused to use any product, watch any television, use/consume any media, or eat any good produced by a company or people with whom I had an issue, my life would be miserable. And I think most people, if they’re honest, would say the same.
I will make my own decisions in these matters but I refuse to mess up my own life when it will only harm me and my family and benefit no one.
Since its been alleged that Blizzard has been doing this behavior since even before the Activision merger, I’ve been playing and financially supporting Blizzard way back when and thus continued this behavior. So I’m a bad person at 13 years old back then.
Forget WoW for a minute.
I assume you have some principles/beliefs. How far would someone have to violate those beliefs or principles before you felt like you couldn’t stomach a company or person?
At that point I would have to already have a personal relationship with the people that are doing this. As in I’ve met with them face to face and have a friendship for years. But in reality for me, everyone involved in that situation are complete strangers to me personally, and they are an ocean away from where I live.
Playing WoW doesn’t make you a bad person. Same reasons as others have mentioned above…pretty much the whole world is corrupt and it’s not getting any better. Do what makes you happy and look out for YOU. F what others think or say. You can be against harassment of women and still play the game. Just like you can still enjoy an iPhone even though it’s made with slave labor. Or a pair of Nikes, etc.
You’re not bad! You can totally still like the game, it’s not wrong to do that.
If you stop using the things you like over some shady thing that happened behind it then you’ll never enjoy anything. That kind of stuff is everywhere.
Blizz still makes solid games and it’s ok to proudly play WoW or others. The court will solve whatever needs to be solved, it’s honestly not our problem. Yours is to take down that murloc who’s been talking smack about you.
we saw that with Nike and Keurig whenever the price actually increased because people went out to buy their product just to destroy.
Though some have worked, like Chik-Fil-A and their UK launch being boycotting to the point of lasting… two weeks was it?
Are you telling me if you don’t know people personally you have no values?
Saying boycotts don’t work is in contradiction to a long history of boycotts working sooooo
