May be looking for a new MMO

After seeing recently threads I have and my realization that this game seems to have kind of lost its magic I may leave for a different game the only thing is I do not know where to go?

I am an rper first and foremost so I am looking for a game that is very RP friendly and has a large rp community but more of a laid back non elisit community that is not just MG Goldshire.

So FFXIV or ESO?

Try Valheim house building while waiting in queue in warcraft.

Old Republic still has a decent RP community.

I am kind of cautious about F2P games as they tend to come hand in hand with their buddy P2W as for FFXIV didn’t they ban ppl for rping at one point.

Also how is the rp over in New World as I heard that game has had a surge of popularity?

re: FF14 RP bans – if it’s what I think you’re referring to, that was an overzealous mod that was banning RPers advertising in Party Finder (because party finder is for group content and RPing is “player created content”) and those bans were reversed.

I don’t rp myself but I see lots of rpers in FF14 and they seem to be having a blast. I actually got invited to a concert at one of their guild houses once and went just to check it out and even though I wasn’t rping it was a lot of fun to have a music night in game.

Also another thing I am not into the kind of RP that does on in MGs Goldshire but from what I heard you cannot go 2 steps witout tripping over rpers rping exactly that in ANY major or minor city, most of the player housing is used for just that and those who do rp that is not that are every exclusive and are quick to gate keep unless you are in the right guild or discord?

If you’re judging the game by what is said here, you’re robbing yourself. This is where people come to cry and complain. The perspective is always going to be skewed to the negative.

Like I said I do not rp myself, but even I know you’re referring to Limsa Lominsa lol

I am sure there are non-Goldshire esque rp groups, and I haven’t ever seen anything but super inviting posts go up in game for rp guilds/“free companies” recruiting, so I would definitely give it a shot. The sexy nerds are pretty upfront about their events from what I’ve seen.

And why should I not …no one here is interested in saving this game they just want it to burn down quicker. Look at all the I quit threads.

You should go read the forums of the prospective games you are interested in to get a general idea of what is going on in that particular MMO.

Well as a WoW player I also want a smooth transition as possible.

tbh those of us who tried to save the game for years have long since mostly moved on to other games. This was the first time I actually actively uninstalled wow and bnet from my computer since when I first started playing. We tried, it didn’t work, we left.

As far as rp goes, there are lots of options, check em out and I hope you find something that clicks.

Smooth transition? What are you talking about? Stop playing one then start playing the other. It’s not like you are moving your family across the country for a new job.

Keep in mind that a new MMO might not be for you, even if you enjoyed WoW it’s no guarantee you’ll enjoy other MMO’s.

Play a new MMO because you want to play that game. Not because WoW has lost it’s charm.

I’d recommend just taking a leap and faith and trying it out. Don’t get into analysis paralysis on whether you’ll enjoy something. Try out the trial, try to keep an open mind, and you may surprise yourself in terms of what you’ll end up liking (or not liking).

Also remember that trying out another game doesn’t mean that you have to stop enjoying or playing WoW. It’s perfectly okay to play something for a hot minute, and come back if you feel like it.

Some games on my to-do list once I’m bored with WoW this/next month:

  • FF14 Endwalker (I’ve yet to finish Post-Shadowbringers though)
  • City of Heroes Homecoming
  • Genshin Impact (it’s not usually my cup of tea but hey, I might as well follow my own advice and try something new)
  • Might go back to RS3 for a month or two
  • Dragon Age Inquisition
  • SWTOR
  • GW2 (yet to finish all the expansion content)

Outside of the Icebrood Saga story (the zones are great, the story…meh) GW2 is hands down still one of my favorite mmos. I cannot wait for the new expansion End of Dragons, the new elite specs look sick so far and the combat system is still my favorite of any mmo I’ve ever played. I usually don’t pvp in mmos, but I actually love pvp in gw2, super fun stuff – especially wvw during prime time!

I haven’t venture too far into the game yet so I don’t know about the RP part. I think there was some RP session going on in town with a group of people rolling dices and stuff while using their mic. Very interesting experience I witness, but I had to continue grinding.

The magic of this game was lost a long time ago like perhaps around at the start of Cataclysm, but hit very hard during WoD. Dedication to the franchise is what kept players playing only because of the community and not because of the game.

It doesn’t hurt to ask fellow WoW players here on the forums if they tried out other stuff. They’re just not sure hence why the thread are made. Yeah sure we can go with your obvious solution, but he asked here. We’re here to give him the answers if we have it. Try to have some empathy if you can muster it.

I believe this only hurts those who are truly dedicated to the game and have a hard time to transfer to something new. This is why it’s best to play more than one mmorpg just in case one fails on interest.

FF14, if your a Story based person. The beginning is rough, it’s outdated very similar to Wow’s beginning. Once you get through it though, the Story is phenomenal.

ESO, I can’t say much on because my attempts at getting anywhere in that game have failed.

GW2, is actually half decent and maybe the closest thing to WoW. If your just looking for another WoW. I played it for a bit during a content drought for WoW, at one point. It’s not bad, although I have no idea what the “end game” looks like.

I actually really like the story. I am hyped for the new expansion as well since Cantha is a region people have been asking to go to since day 1. The new elite specs (especially Willbender) look incredibly fun.
