It’s been 25min since Kaivax posted it. Maybe the hotfixes started rolling out before the announcement, maybe slightly afterward. Takes time to roll out hotfixes to all the realms, and for the changes to filter down into the queues. It’s not going to magically change.
Also, if someone queue’d up before leaving for work/school, and then they come up to the char select screen, but aren’t home to log in, does that count as leaving the queue and freeing up a spot? Or does the system only free up a spot when a character logs into the realm proper?
Wow…I just looked, he sure is. This type of behavior needs the banhammer. I report every person I see that is macroing/jump in to walls to bypass the logout. They need to announce temp bans for people that do this, because I guarantee that is a large part of the long queues. The more people that see this done, the more will join in until it’s shown to not be tolerated.

While it is to reduce stress on the server, it should be noted that there are no instances of northshire. The layer is continent wide. I can leave northshire and still be on the same layer. It doesn’t work the same way CRZ and sharding works in 8.0

They’re making changes to allow more players to enter each realm.
More players might stick around on every realm.
That can cause problems in the future when they try to remove layering.
(I’m not disagreeing with their decision to do this now. Just acknowledging this might contribute to future queue problems.)

This is the problem I’m seeing too… They need to implement this AND lock High Pop servers until the hype dies down
