Does anyone happen to know what happens if you accrue new profession knowledge in a profession that is fully maxed out in all nodes? Do you continue to accumulate knowledge points and mettle?

I have a guy in my guild who is maxed on mining knowledge. I don’t know how he did it because i’ve been capping every week. Well he said that the points you get just accrue like they can be used at a later date.

if that’s true this may be a sign they plan to expand on it further later down the road but who’s to say atm
Apparently early on there was an exploit of sorts that some people used to gain (a lot of) bonus crafting knowledge. Blizzard fixed the exploit, but didn’t remove excess knowledge from anyone, so some players have had a huge advantage over others. Now, I don’t think anyone should have been banned or anything, but early on it should have been easy to figure out what the max knowledge you should have been able to get and remove excess knowledge from anyone above that.
I questioned the hell out of him but even he didn’t know how or why. He is double gathering and his mining maxed out 80 points faster than herbalism. I still have 67 more but missed the first week and haven’t gotten all the treasties.
Yeah, that’s why I don’t think anyone should have been banned, because the “exploit” was something that players didn’t know they were doing, at least as far as I have heard.

Currently it continues accruing.
I hope they revert that in case they ever intend to add more nodes.
Honestly, if you tell me I need to keep this grind up beyond the next 3-5 months its going to take to cap everything on the off chance more nodes get added - I think I’m just done.
Was looking forward to get to the end of that grind. Was hoping for some hidden achievement and a full stop to accruing those points or maybe a boa token instead for my alts.
Kindda annoyed by the pop up message that I have points to spend and all the exclamation points I don’t want to see anymore in valdraken’s map.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is just an oversight.
Can confirm maxxed my JC out and I have 16 extra knowledge points just sitting. I ended up here because im like wtf do I do with these…?
Everytime I hear people mention the early “exploit” – which wasn’t, it was simply Blizzard not expecting people to degenerately farm world treasure for 1% drops – in the context of professions still be somehow ruined, I just have to roll my eyes.
Every boss in every dungeon and every ultra rare have a chance to drop dragon eggs. You can farm like 10 eggs on your day off just doing rares and raids. Is it boring? Terribly. But the path to maxing any profession in about two weeks does exist.
They should have just capped it and never added the bonus points imo. The bonus items should have just allowed you to reach current cap.
For people that enjoy crafting but didn’t know (or want to risk) doing this, it was the equivalent to getting more shadowflame sparks then allotted by the time gating.
Many of us were aware but didn’t want to risk action…why take action against tailors specifically and let everyone else off the hook? It was just poorly handled all around.
For those that took the risk, and didn’t get any adverse impact, sure. It was obviously worth the gamble.
I’ve maxxed out JC, Ench, Engi, Mining, Herb, Alch. Got no achievement for this godforsaken grind. now i get notification for excess points. i dunno what to do with them and so annoying. 
You can buy extra mettle with them now

i know its crazy but it would be great if i could buy knowledge for mettle also.
I thought most people were referring to the profession swap cheese in order to max out artisan rep and get like 15 bonus KP. This was a massive advantage early on.

would be awesome if i needed mettle. one of my toons has both mining and herbalism. so now its got almost 10k mettle. my other toons with non gathering professions have like almost 5k each. hope they’ll make mettle account bound.

oh great so i have learned form this forum, that after a never ending grind, i get no achievement, no way to help my alts, and i can change the knowledge in for a currency i already have a BILLION of! Annoying.
