Max Server Pop.

The lower the number the harder the game, the closer the community.

I think the original was 3000... don't quote me on that.

That sounds right but I’m not sure either. I’d probably be cool with 3-5k max. We will lose people when the hype dies down.
Lower numbers are better.

Less competition.
What private server people don't seem to realize is that there's a difference between 3k players from all over the world and 3k players from the same time zone. Besides, that number was literally pulled from thin air and then retroactively validated with a phony claim that it was based on census.

I suspect private server players realize this, perhaps more acutely than others. They would have witnessed the peaks and valleys of an international player base and the affect it has on every aspect of the game.

Geez, he said don't quote him on that, and the first thing you do is QUOTE him. No respect, I tellya.
Having played all through vanilla wow and extensively on private servers having a higher population makes the game much more enjoyable for me, you can have so much more player generated PvP content if there are people around in every zone all the time.
I want 10k+ for world PvP

private servers actually release the numbers while blizzard didnt. why does it matter where people are located? ND has 9300 online right now, i dont care where they are

You think you do. But you don't.
I'm used to playing on big pop servers now and actually prefer it.
Always find people to group with and the world is populated in all the zones.

hah..

My knee jerk reaction is yes to Blizzlike server caps..
But I really enjoy PvP and don't want to be stuck in a situation where the BGs never pop or it's hard to find some good WPvP.

So, I wouldn't be terribly upset if they were like 5k or slightly higher.

But no more than that.
Vanilla Blizzard caps are the way to go. Too many players can clog zones, ans as PvP doesn't matter, world PvP should not be taken into consideration.
I highly doubt blizz will do small server caps, they aint gonna release 50 servers to have to merge them 3 months in.

On fresh pservers it's really only the starting zones 1-10 that get clogged.
Then the crowd thins out some.

wpvp is just as important as pve to some as that was a big part of vanilla wow.

why does it matter where people are located?

Just because someone is online doesn't mean they can raid/bg and commit time. You ever log on before work/school just to idle and chat for a while in town?

People are generally only able to play seriously in the evenings and if half of your population is on the opposite sides of the world then who can raid at any given time is split down the middle.

Here's the bottom line: high population vanilla servers were overwhelmingly active. What ever the cap was, was fine.

i play in the mornings eastern time, to run bgs

so im in favor of high populations or crbgs. 2500 is not fine for morning bgs
Yeah pvp really need cross realm stuff, queues will be an hour long for ally otherwise.

Is what it is man. Can't change the whole darn game to satisfy the early birds. Play on european servers or something.

Well we don't know how they are setting up their servers.
