Max Level 60 in 9.0

That’s a lot of assumptions there.

Got any citations?

You first. Where is your citation that they will stop adding levels? Where is your citation that they’ll go back to 5 levels per expansion.

You’re acting like this level squish will be some sort of magic bullet that will solve everything and then get mad when people drag you back down to earth.

that’s not how the burden of proof works.

I suggested something. You claimed blizzard decided something.

YOU need to prove to me what blizzard said.

Why would they need to squish it two expacs later when it’s been 15 years since level 60? Are you assuming WoW will still even be active in another 15 years?

Here is the ultimate truth on why it will not happen. The entire game would have to be predominantly rewritten to accommodate a level squish. They would literally have to go through each mob, each equipment piece, each spell, each everything to change the numbers to make a squish work. Time and money that I very much doubt Blizzard is going to spend on.

Nah. They stated before that they made it possible to automate the stat and level squish process.

They have a algorithm that automatically does all that for them.

Show me precisely where I said this. Because you’re reading way more into what I said than I actually said.

Meanwhile you get off scot-free with your “suggestion” so you can get away with demanding evidence that you won’t provide yourself.

How long did we make it before the first stat squish? How many stat squishes have we had since then? If they start squishing, they’re going to keep squishing more often because that’s the easier solution than actually addressing the problem.

Maybe if this was another company I could have some belief into that. Blizzard though has proven that they can have plenty of time and money and still mess it up. If they do something like this (even if I do not like it) they have to do it right…because if they don’t this really could break their backs.

And their last “automated” squish still had a bunch of bugs.

Which is why, again, anything done in addition to the squish could be more easily done without dealing with problems caused by the squish.

Lol okay dude. I’m not going to even bother with you.

I never said it’d be perfect but expecting perfection from blizzard is just silly. The stat squish which they said was “perfectly automated” still has issues to this day. But that doesn’t mean they’re not going to do it again with a level squish.

Stat squishing had more to do with runaway power levels and integers going too high. A level squish has more to do with most of the levels being extraneous fluff that mean nothing. Stat squish and level squish are fundamentally not the same thing.

If they have to squish us back to 60 because they can’t come up with enough stuff for 120 levels, then what makes you think they can just keep coming up with stuff past 60?

If they do go through with the level squish, the next level squish will happen much more quickly.

If I want max lvl at 60 I play classic I don’t care if it only goes up 5 lvl it means it still going up not down. If there were any NEW player they be in game now so you can stop beating that poor dead horse. The only thing that I see about cutting lvls in half is less work for devs. Would you like it if your job paid you less because they say it helps the company or less gas for the same price for your car because they say it helps them.

no the reason they should do it is because the numbers are too obnoxious at this point. it’s not because of the leveling

we should just go to 60 and have a paragon system like elder scrolls

You’re right, I don’t. If it allows us to be rewarded more often, in interesting ways that impact our gameplay, then the number going from 120 to 60 is a complete non-issue.

I really hope they aren’t looking at the success of classic and thinking solely reducing the level to 60 or making leveling an even longer “grind” will somehow “fix” the game.

I haven’t really come across any argument against the level squish in this thread other than “it’s not a magic bullet”. Which isn’t really an argument against it at all.

Sometimes I get the feeling people against the level squish just like seeing big numbers

The problem is we haven’t heard anything about it other than that.

So if all it is is a number squish just like the stat/ilvl squish - then it will legit solve none of the issues with leveling at all.

Not to mention those ilvl/stat squishes they have done have been fraught with problems the for the first few weeks, each time they did it.

So worst case scenario it doesn’t solve problems. That’s a truly frightening proposition 0.0

Bugs are standard in modern AAA game development. It’s nothing. “Live service” and patches and all that.

Best case scenario it helps with the power creep problem that’s currently infecting WoW, worst case the status quo doesn’t change. Doesn’t seem so bad to me
