Do you guardian Druids use this spell? I took it off my bars because I rather spend the resources on ironfur. Maul isn’t doing much damage. Is this a bad way to play? Ty
DOTC play’s Maul because Maul interacts with the hero talents. As EC I have it on my bars but I might it is not used much. I might hit it in a delve or world content.
You actually have me curious enough to go check prior logs when I get home to see how frequently I have hit it during a M+ Run.

Yeah I use elunes chosen also and I really can’t tell if it’s beneficial to use it in mythic over just stacking ironfur.
I have used maul only for soloing old raids. Otherwise it’s off the bar.
i mean you should probably be using maul on cd with ec, its still a solid priority target button
Maul doesn’t have a CD. Are you thinking of Mangle?
When I look at Warcraft logs of other Druids, maul appears near last of overall damage done. It seems players use it like 2-4 times in a boss fight. Maybe to weave it in a tiny bit but it’s barely doing anything.

Most bears are using maul in raid because they are running as DOTC. There are a few ST Boss fights in M+ where it wouldn’t be the end of the world if you used maul over IF if you were in an intermission phase or a casted channel (i.e ML last boss frontal) but if you are running the Thorns of Iron Build just send IF.

Lmao you should never use EC in a raid setting.
There is a total of 1 Bear (from Korea) using EC in the top 10 kills of each boss and they are ranked 9/10 on Stix. That was from 3 days ago so they are most likely extremely outgearing (ilvl 684) the content. Most Raiding Bears were DOTC primarily for the raid but I am sure you will see EC more frequently as gear scores climb even higher.
But for single target boss fights if you are preferring to use maul then just run DoTC. It is more damage than any EC ST spec.
We are talking and average of 2.4M DPS vs 1.6M DPS.

im so tired of ripping aggro man…
i knew it was a large gap, but as i tried to explain this to multiple bear players in game, they keep on saying they like the defensive aspect of it. keep in mind these players are doing heroic raid and are 665, which means they can solo tank most of the raid with proper play.
i personally dont understand why alot of bear players dont like going into dotc in raid cause so far eeach one i played with was ec and let me rip threat
You might be pugging with bears that have either been M+ing all season or are not comfortable with DOTC because they don’t understand RIP or CAT weaving. Or they could just be new to tanking. Pressing Maul isn’t going to help them with a threat issue especially EC Bears. You might just have to hold DPS for a second before going ham.

It shouldn’t be an issue after the threat buff but if you are consistently dirt napping to pulling threat from different tanks then that is a self-reflective problem.
I can’t think of the last time someone pulled threat from me while I had a pack going unless it was a ranged class targeting a leaping caster in the rear of a pack but if it happened on a regular basis I would let them figure that out on their own.
Good DPS is Smart DPS. Smart DPS put out bigger damage.
There are alot of bad bears. I hear about them all the time from guild healers when they pug M+.
Also, maul is used plenty as DotC in raids, otherwise it may as well not exist.
Any bear using EC in raids is either a fool, or needs the defensive boost when undergeared for a fight. DotC is bonkers for ST damage and its fun ending up 50% ahead of other “better class” tanks and having them not sure what happened.

I never played my guardian druid in raid except one or two bosses for a friend because they couldn’t get a tank. Lol I should have been more specific about it being about mythic plus. But the tips are great still. I’m newer to Druid. Thanks
I use EC in mythic plus, basically don’t hit maul. Was just wondering if that was entirely dumb of me but I don’t think it is that bad for lower dungeons that I do. Like 10s.
I made the druid to mostly enjoy farming old content as a class theme I greatly enjoy. Astral theme druid is great. But I ended up being a tank for a lot of dungeons still. Hehe.
