I know math is hard for some people, but the changes are not buffs. If you are playing Stormbringer you have the potential for each Lightning Bolt to overload 4 times. They can overload on their own, the Supercharge talent in the Hero tree, Surge of Power, and Power of the Maelstrom. For this scenario we will assume all of them trigger and we get 4 overloads and a base Lightning Bolt in PvP before the change is 350k and after is 455k. The 30% increase to Lightning Bolt and the 60% reductions to overload is a pretty big nerf.
Old:
350k + 4 *(.35 * 350k) = 840k
New:
455 + 4 * (.40 * .35 * 455k) = 709k
If you are using Fusion of Elements and Mountains Will Fall you will see an additional nerf because ES and EB are not getting buffed but their overloads are getting nerfed.
Old ES:
450k + (.5 * .35 * 450k) = 528k
New ES:
450k + (.4 * .5 * .35 * 450k) = 481k
Old EB (Fusion of Elements):
314k + (.5 * .35 * 314k) = 369k
New EB (Fusion of Elements):
314k + (.4 * .5 * .35 * 314k) = 335k
Same math for Icefury it will be an overall nerf with an overload.
You may get some big Lava Bursts and big Lightning Bolts, but our talent tree is based on getting overloads which are getting nerfed hard. I guess Blizz thinks we are stupid and can’t do simple math.

This is why I decided to put more into crit. In pvp Yesterday I was somewhere around 25-35% crit rate on the various spells. With nature spells being on the higher side. It felt better not being so lopsided on mastery too. I’m hoping Tuesdays changes make this viable but if anything it’s at least fun to play since they

So just fyi, I think we are going to be playing into our 4 set with increased duration on our eles, high lavaburst damage and more casting… It will be weird.
But so far I have hit a 1.4m lavaburst on a player. With our 4 set at 15% more damage, plus this 20%, plus the 30% increased mastery, we will be chunking with mastery builds.
( I hit 1.4m with only 66% mastery in pvp, which is not fully mastery stacked. I am missing a few pieces still. I am at 27% increased damage from that, plus another 30% would be 35% increased damage)
Bump to get this post some attention, because it seems that Ele players playing today were under the impression they were getting buffs. Sorry to tell you but you are getting nerfed on top of the garbage PW change.
I knew we were getting more nerfs but I didn’t think it was this bad. Got my 2 set piece buff today and man I definitely don’t hit as hard as I did last week. I felt like it took forever to kill mobs in a solo T8 delve and I was consistently on the lower DPS end for a couple of M+ runs today. Tier set is kinda garbage imo.
