Arms: A battle-hardened master of weapons, using mobility and overpowering attacks to strike their opponents down.
What it really is: Heres a bleed and a % damage increase to damage.
The only thing it has to do with overpowering attacks is one attack thats just named Overpower. Mobility? Fury and Prot have the same things.
They’re going in a neat direction with using other skills to buff up Mortal Strike but, why not make the bread and butter skill Execute? An idea that took me 20 seconds is:
Every time you use Execute, you have a insert window of damage before Execute turns into another skill, maybe Behead or Grand Execution, and a %(based on Mastery) of that damage delt during that window goes into that new skill, on top of Executes base damage.
Currently, Arms is just “Wait for execute phase to deal a mega amount of damage” and while its nice and chunky, it’s not really fitting into the theme.
…and get rid of Rend. WoW is becoming too DoT reliant on every class.
Of course my idea is prolly trash, but having a DoT mixed in with a damage increase buff is kinda boring.
I’d love for the old arms mastery where deep wounds wasn’t a damage amp and just did big bleed damage.
But probably the best thing they could do to get the arms to feel like it does big beefy hits that overpower your enemies is to have arms scale really well with crit. Colossal arms does this. Crit is huge for reducing the cooldown on demolish and it focuses on mortal strike more than execute.
Also, depending on the content you’re doing you can give up rend with minimal loses in damage.
Almost every mastery is a flat damage with a hoop to jump through. The current iteration is easily the best version of any arms mastery we’ve had so far since mastery was introduced as a stst. As it does not hide your damage profile and it’s contributions, doesn’t only provide a bonus to ST making you need to maintain multiple gearsets for ST and AoE.
Right now it’s doing a great job as it’s also not a stat that Arms warriors hate either.
Funnily enough even though slayer prefers haste and colossus prefers crit Arms is one of the only specs that like all seconday stats as you could take a fury optimised set and still pull solid numbers with it.
