While an enemy player is affected by your Polymorph or Mass Polymorph, your movement speed is increased by 25% and your Versatility is increased by 6%.
Additionally, Polymorph and Mass Polymorph no longer heal enemies."
yo is this some kind of sick joke? remove this garbage before its too late
Mages having the longest duration CC in the game that has no cooldown is balanced BECAUSE of the fact that it heals targets. So you can’t just use it willy nilly on kill targets, unless you plan a burst setup that would 100-0 them anyway. This talent ruins that idea AND gives a speed boost that mages really don’t need.
yeah not exactly looking forward to this. Even with poly duration getting lowered next patch, it still seems like it will be equally frustrating as both healer and DPS. Ah well
What about fear being the same duration as poly? Fear/cyclone will be the best CC in 10.1 relative to other CC poly is pretty nerfed without that talent.
If these values are going to be the same next patch and poly is going to be 6 seconds with fear/clone untouched, then at a minimum fear/clone need to go down to 5 seconds.
Fear breaks on damage pretty easily. Clone on the other hand makes the target unable to be healed, but also unable to be damaged. These are both fine in their current state as is.
People should really read all the changes before providing feedback like this.
Polymorph and Mass Polymorph will last 6 seconds in PVP in 10.1.
What this talent essentially does is brings their power level to Fear / Howl of Terror and Cyclone, all of which retain their 6 seconds duration in PVP.
Fear moves its target, but Warlocks have a general tree talent to remove that. Mages sacrifice a PVP talent to remove the Poly’s drawback, which is a much higher cost, that is why it is compensated by an additional buff effect.
Cyclone makes target immune to damage, but also immune to healing, so has its pros / cons as well.
Additionally, Evokers will get spammable Sleep Walk with similar to mentioned abilities cast time (1.7 seconds) in 10.1 with a PVP talent as well, so now there will be 4 classes with spammable CC with different pros and cons.
It will probably kill arcane outright, because why play arcane if you can play frost or fire, get kicked on your main school and then just poly them without them being able to heal while locked out. There won’t be much downside to getting kicked on frost or fire.
It takes that arcane disadvantage and turns it into even more of a disadvantage.
I kind of agree, but I think what’s being missed here is mages ability to blink in/db/root/knock/etc. to land poly as well as threaten cc with another school from ring of frost. Basically they have a lot of tools to get poly off that other specs don’t share to the same degree, but a lot of times they’re deterred from just constantly rotating poly on different people due to wiping dots and it healing them. While the dots being wiped could still be an issue in some circumstances removing the drawback of it healing will greatly increase their freedom to just constantly rotate dr’s on people throughout the game which could become really toxic.
I’m willing to wait and see, but it’s not like there isn’t the potential here for this to be problem.
Even if it that is true it doesnt matter. The community will fotm reroll within days if its giga broken. Class rep is a terrible argument for anything.
I think it’s a decent argument for fun and design of the class/spec. For instance Frost Mage is probably mid A tier, but has the representation of a C tier.
