Master Marksman Talent, looking for clarification

Like every other Focus-starved MM Hunter, in the first row of MM Talents, I selected Master Marksman.
In my experience, the best thing about this Talent is it costs no Focus.
Second best, it that it is a small (1.5%-5%) passive buff to my dps, and an Agility stat-stick.
It is weak.
And now I am wondering: "What exactly are my ranged special attacks? Special how? To who?
The Talent works off my ranged special attack critical strikes.
I think I got the Critical Strike part, and ranged, but I am not in a happy place with the special attack.
I am thinking maybe it means the attacks unique to a MM Hunter?
Can anyone tell me, clarify this for me? If not, then what do you think? What defines a “special attack?”

I could be wrong, but I believe “special attack” is anything other than auto-attacks. In target swapping to spread the free SS from the legendary around, I have noticed the MM bleed on new targets that I’ve only cleaved onto previously.

It should be any ability that generates a GCD. Even other talents like Volley and Explosive Shot should proc it.

The only thing I’m not sure is if the serpent sting from the SST legendary also procs it. It may not, since it’s in the same talent row so it’s not supposed to be able to be used at the same time.

The things that won’t proc it are damage sources that come from items like trinkets and enchants.

The initial hit from SST procs it, but the dot ticks don’t.

I wasn’t thinking/writing straight.
Agility stat stick thing is a fairly low ilvl Trinket I have.
It’s not part of the Master Marksman Talent, but was on my mind as it regularly contributes more to my DPS than does the Talent.
Looking through my over-all damage, Master Marksman is contributing 3.1%.
To me, this seems low.
Ranged special attack critical strikes cause the target to bleed for an additional 15% of the damage dealt over 6 sec.
So, if my Aimed Shot should crit for 10k, the Talent will cause a bleed for another 1.5k, does that look right?

Depends on how much crit you have. The more crit the more value this talent gets. Mine shows around 4.3%.

It may be low but it’s a lot stronger than Murder of Crows. Serpent Sting is “technically” better, but that’s why everyone uses Serpenstalker’s Trickery as Legendary. Since the legendary procs Serpent Sting automatically, Master Marksman becomes the only viable talent in this row.

Its garbage talent, its just the least worst of the other choices.
BFA master marksman was way better and shoulda made it into shadowlands, they wanted to give you more choice in the talent row an old bfa mama was only choice youd take, so they tried to nerf an redesign it to let other talents shine, this however did nothing because serp sting is still garbage, crows is not viable and master marksman is just free damage for doing nothing, Sad thing is bfa mama got nerfed due to bfa marks having crazy good focus gains

Ok, thanks for your replies.
