Video games are a bit different then life. Not super fond of comparing the two, but I understand why it happens and am guilty of it myself from time to time. But any comparison is generally bad because the laws of the two worlds are completely different.
In most situations yes but in this example itās pretty much the same.
The house is your own property if you own it, not the HOA, either way, WoW, like irl, is a democracy bound by some rules, blizz gives the majority group of players what they want (to not lose too many customers), and in this case they voted against the unfairness of ML.
Guilds must follow the standards of the greater community, not the other way around. Telling them not to steal from other players doesnāt violate the guilds rights, but rather protects the players rights.
Donāt like something then donāt do it, doesnāt fit well in this situation because itās the social norm due to greed. Masterloot gets over used because it was easy to abuse. To find a guild that was capable of doing content and didnāt use master loot was difficult due to most people using it. Just because it was so easy to reserve loot, or screw people out of mounts ect. In life there is more optionsā¦ Plus losing a bit of gear is nowhere near as serious as losing hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars you would on a house. So naturally you would make sure you was in a situation that no matter what you wouldnāt lose that. Then there is the entire video game aspect of wanting to be able to play and the longer it takes you to find a guild the longer you have to wait to actually get to play the game. You donāt have to be a home owner to live life.
How is it stealing if they didnāt pay for it with DKP, didnāt specifically state he wanted a fair shot at all the loot dropped, didnāt win the need before greed or win the /roll? If he did ask for a fair shot and they told him no or gave it to someone else anyway then you leave, report and find a new guild to roll with.
Agreed.
Its what sunk Classic and will damn retail if ML returned.
He brought up the house. I was just stating this was a thing that happens. Regardless what a guild does is the guilds problem. If you arenāt in the guild then it isnāt hurting you. Sure masterloot was easy to abuse but thatās one of the reasons blizzard introduced pugs to the game.
You had a fair chance at loot in pugs since Need before greed was the default option. Sure you could change it but the player who joined was always allowed to check what the loot was set to and could leave if it was on master loot.
As someone stated before, let master loot exist for private groups or just guilds and only pugs be personal/need before greed.
I disagree however, I think Ion may be considering its return anyways. He has been talking a little bit lately about how changes to make things more inclusive didnāt have the desired effect. I think there is a decent chance some of that reconsideration may deal with Masterloot. Mostly because I see them doing a lot of changes trying to shift things back more toward the way classic was done.
I feel the next 2-3 expansions we will be seeing a shift to make Retail something between what we have today, and what classic is.
Iād put money on one of the shadowlands patches to start these changes. 9.2 or 9.3 would be my bet.
Well I mean itās already started, titanforge is gone. They are trying to make it so itās harder to change your choices. They are trying to make it so you interact with your character more. Although personally Iād rather have the old talent system versus covenants but hey. These are probably just the start though.
There will definitely be changes. However, I sincerely doubt regression is on the agenda.
You sure do support ML a lot for some one who claims to have had no stake in it.
False flags happen a ton in this forum, itās a double meaning.
Iām actually super happy about this and corruptions being gone.
Iām not but, weāll see what they do to keep me interested. It may be what finally gets me to quit the game.
I mean, just because I donāt agree with how people use it doesnāt mean I want it out of the game. Master loot can be used for just as much good. Itās just people are greedy.
Master Loot had no impact on the casual community aside from people who joined pugs or really crap raiding guilds expecting gear to be a quick easy handout for them.
Master Loot was a very fondly utilized tool of organized raiding guilds, and taking it away is still the dumbest and most needless change made to the game.
FFXIV is always an option if this game ends up going a way you donāt agree. They have a need before greed system but you can only need on loot that your class youāre using at that moment can use.
Tbh though I think soulbind needs to be removed too. It sucks not being able to sell all that loot on the auction or send it to my enchanter to disenchant it.
Nah, this will likely be my last MMo. Iāve been around the block a few times and the other games just donāt have what I like. Once this one gets ruined there really isnāt a place left. Unless something amazing comes out which I doubt.
Tell that to protesters.
Heās not wrong.
What? Are you serious. Itās none of my business if someone is running around robbing people? Injustices like that if its in our community effects us all. It takes only one rotten apple to spoil the batch.
Is it also nobody elses business when someone is cheating?
