If they bring it back, they have to stop forcing raid to drop the best gear. Because I will NOT do raid ever again. I already hate raiding enough, it is retro content.
I have been playing wow since 2005 on various accounts. I have been in guilds from casual to US top 100 - even US top 5 at one point during BC.
I can count the amount of non corrupt loot counsels I’ve seen on one hand. If I had no fingers. Because they don’t exist.
This is not even close to reality. Not a single mythic raid guild I have been a part of has ever
Had you on trail for 3 months, the longest I have ever done was 1 week.
Given trails no loot, because you don’t take trials too prog you take them on farmed content to see if the can follow mechanics and directions and as it’s farmed content main roster doesn’t need the loot so of course trial gets it.
Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything you don’t have to be a part of something you don’t like or agree with plenty of mythic raiding guild exists so pick one.
It’s hard to take you seriously when your first sentence is categorically wrong. I’ve been raiding since Cataclysm at a casual level and a CE ranked prog level and I have never been in the situation you just described.
Literally not once.
Typically it’s 2-3 weeks trial, with you being deprioritized on loot. That doesn’t mean you get NO loot… that means when the super rare trinket/weapon drops… it’ll probably go to a core raider. Everything else? You’re in the bidding as well. If no one but you needs it… it obviously goes to you. What do you think guilds do? DE the loot instead of giving it to a trial?
If you willingly signed up to the system you described, then that’s on you. That’s like standing in line to get slapped in the face, and then complaining once you got slapped.
On one hand guilds abuse trials and keep the loot for their core they intend to keep. On the other hand, trials can abuse guilds, get boss kills, loot, etc and then just leave and apply to another guild.
I can see why both sides want what they want. In the end though, I think personal loot is best.
What’s even better is… options. No one is asking for ML to replace PL. They’re asking for ML as an option with PL. Don’t want ML? No problem… don’t join a guild that uses it. And don’t tell me they don’t exist. That line of thinking was flat out disproven back when this debate first started via Mr. Robot surveys.
are you trying to look smart by putting ion in quotations?
im not a parse guy, but your view on guilds is interesting given you have all <20s and are unguilded
I have never experienced this in all 18 years I have been playing WoW. I am not denying the existence of trial periods based on the individual over the years. I have never heard of a trial period of no loot for 3 months however. If you do not like a guilds policy the easy solution is do not join X guild. This notion that ML is a problem is blown way out of proportion. If you are ignorant, stupid, or gullible then yes maybe ML could be an issue for you. Educate yourself on how and when Blizzard can/will intervene with ML and how to look for signs of potential abuse and you will likely never fall victim.
IKR… If I don’t get the first glaive out of BT despite this being my first run with the guild… obviously that’s just corruption. #IDidAsMuchWorkAsTheyDid
I mean…you told a sad story but the GM still has the option to rinse a gbank and server transfer.
None of this has anything to do with ML other than your complaints that he did a poor job handling loot prior to screwing the guild over…which honestly makes sense seeing as he was a terrible GM.
This story if anything proves how ML can be a good thing, as it clearly showed you that your GM was trash and had you cut bait when you first noticed you wouldn’t have been around for him to ninja the bank and screw you over.
ML exposes bad GMs, next time find a non-meme guild that isn’t ridiculous.
Back in my more “hardcore” raiding days we had a 2-week trial period were you would be the lowest priority for loot. (That means you could still get loot if nobody else needed it)
But we didn’t kick people at the end. If you showed up both weeks and didn’t cause problems you were good to go.
With that being said…I don’t like master loot. From my experience I prefer DKP or fair share but many guilds I’ve raided with did “highest DPS gets loot first” which I hate
You must have been in some horrible guilds LMAO. I have never been in a guild that put you on trial with no loot for 3 months. Not even in Vanilla. None of my guilds did that. At most 1 month. We also used systems like DKP, EPGP, Suicide Kings (or whatever that was) etc.
Now, on the REAL reason on how Master Loot works is because back in the day people used other guilds for gear so they could move on to the progression guilds. I was always in a competitive raid guild (not world first but shooting for top 5 on the server) and we would get tons of apps to join but back then, you had to have a certain amount of gear. We didn’t look at ilvls in Vanilla but if we were in BWL or AQ40 or even Naxx40 and depending where we are at, we expected new recruits to have similar or close to that.
So then people would use these lower progressed guilds to get their gear and then up and leave them so they could join the progressed guilds.
So yeah, guilds put people on trial w/ no loot for x amount of time but never seen for 3 months. This actually helped those guilds weed out the ones who were going to use them.
Now fast forward to today. Or even the last expansion there was ML. I never came across any other guilds who still did the whole “trial” status and telling them no loot until x amount of time. That died out long ago. Sure some still did loot council which some guilds passed gear off to their friends first but then leave the guild or don’t join one who does that. Their guild their rules. Find one that fits your loot needs.
The way the Master Loot crowd wants people to deal with ML is predictable :
“Oh, your guild lied to you for weeks and just strung you along so they could hoard the loot you may have had a chance to win with Personal Loot - then find another guild to waste time with until they prove themselves liars… and repeat forever.”
lol Mater looter was removed due to “guild abuse”? really? no it wasn’t.
it was removed because it was counter to the way Blizzard wanted gear to work in the game. Especialy during a time where gear itself was given ouit a lot, but with bad stats and RNG.
Before that, when we had master looter, progression guilds would generally structure loot rewards in a utilitarian way. Give the loot to the players who can help clear the instance faster / first.
Blizzard doesn’t like this because it meant the really hard core guilds could focus their gear collection around BiS and give the loot to those players accordingly.
With personel loot and making it completely RNG based, a guild can no longer truly min/max their player power and must further rely on RNG to do so.
It also provided a lot of “walls” for transmog by preventing you from gaining transmogs for other gear that’s not necessarily class specific to you. more roadblocks as they want you to create alts for that other loot, not just get it on your one character.
the problem syou’ve described about ‘trials’ and booting you is a guild problem and a problem with the guilds your finding yourself in. Or you’re just not good enough and thats why you keep getting the boot after the ‘trial’.
Removing master loot was always about slowing down raid progression and completion and collectors, and very little to do with the guilds themselves.
