Massively outdone on dps by a lvl 12/20 tank?

Im going to preface this with these are during a lvling dungeon in BFA. Idk if that means numbers are too inconsistent to learn much from these experiences.

Basically though i have had a couple dungeons now where i keep getting #2 on the dps meter for the overall dungeon, and im always second to a really low level tank that i think is using heirloom gear? Lvls 12/20, prot warrior, and druid in this case.

Is this possibly an indication that i am doing poorly with my rotation or that these players are just really good?

I know tanks generally get the most dps in end game dungeons but the difference in dmg and lvls atm makes me feel like im not doing my rotation correctly. For example the lvl 12 prot warrior did ~1.3mil dmg overall with me in 2nd at ~850k, windwalker lvl 49. (Idk why the site still says 33)

Should I reevaluate my rotation or just wait until max lvl and see where i stand?

Do not put amy stock at all into any numbers you see prior to 70 doing endgame content. Especially at low levels scaling is super wonky and people dont have anywhere near their entire kit

Scaling is the issue. Not you.

No need to re-evaluate yet.

  1. Scaling is goofy as fudge all the way up to 70.
  2. At lower level, tanks tend to be the only ones with actual, uncapped AOE. Also thunderclap is near-spammable

This. Don’t put any stock at all into what the damage meter tells you in a leveling dungeon.

Scaling is weird.

This. You want even more nutty scaling, OP? Level an ele shaman. Chain lightning carries the entire group. It’s bonkers.

oh, there are so many twink tanks i get in dungeon runs (not a bad thing, but give me a moment before you flag me, not trolling) , I just turned off my dps meters cuz they were smokin’ my #s as a dps :frowning: im like dannngggg

The less abilities you have, the easier it is to make it scale super high. Also some twink are abound in chromie time. They lock their xp and farm socket gear, you’ll find them mostly in WoD chromie time.

Scaling in this game is just awful. Your character feels like they get weaker as they level up.

Before level 60 it’s better to just turn off your DPS meter addon. All it does it make you feel worthless compared to a level 10.

My lvl 20 shaman can crit for 4-5k and I am not even bis for a lvl 20, 10s deal more dps then me still. Trust me op its not a you thing its a scalling thing lol.

I see them in BC dungeons, esp. the fel orc ones i forget the name of the dungeons

I believe armor socket is in WoD but there are also weapons somewhere else that has weapons or are best in slot or something, I forget.

Don’t worry about it. Dungeon scaling is stupid before level 60.

Scaling is kind of necessary, because a level 10 with one ability needs to be able to kill things roughly as quickly as a level 50 with 15 abilities.

But it makes dungeons wonky.

I think they should make it so the game tries to only queue you with people around your level and only if it fails to find people close to your level (+/- 5 levels I’d say) then it expands to try to find more.

Leveling in this game is a completely different game. Just enjoy the carry. You’ll be 70 in no time and this phase will mean nothing.

when my holy priest was lvl 11 , my first dungeon in shadowlands felt like the tutorial dungeon and my damage was insane.

if someone in your party with less lvl than you even if you are 70, dont panic, the game just makes you waker the more you lvl up, becomes stable once you reach certain ilvl.

some times you en up so under geared that healing a lvl 67 dungeon and almost everybody is around the same lvl, its more like running a m+15 key.

This is absolutely true, absolutely wonk as heck.
