Massive stutters with DF client

Glad to see nothing has been done about this issue. My subscription will not be renewed until this issue is resolved.

On the Raszageth fight, during a knock back in the first phase, I experienced stuttering/choppy frames and got blown clean through a Static Field. Please don’t tell me the knock back stop from Static Field is effected by frame rates.

Ryzen 5 2600
16gb 3000
Zotac 1080
Battle.net & WoW are installed on there own 512gb SSD

Graphic complete freeze up (sounds and music are fine) then the game seems to re-render everything and continues and rinse and repeat. And it happens at random time and intervals. I could be playing for 30 minutes and nothing happens and then BOOM, game freezes up or, it happens in quick succession.

Please HELP. I want to play again

We will see next week if the patch will do anything to solve this.

I’ve had this issue, too, with constant disconnections.

When I first started playing this game again, it was on a $350 HP from Walmart (BFA-era). The game never had glitches, never disconnected. Yes, it took 5 minutes to get into the game, but once I was there, the game was beautiful. I could play regular quests just fine. I’m on a machine that costs thousands more now, and I sometimes get disconnected or have a glitch just when I try to move in an area where nothing much is going on.

Fast-forward to now, and I have all recommended specs on everything for my laptop. I still get disconnected, NPCs have trouble loading in Valdrakken, and my dragon taking off sometimes freezes the game completely and even crashes Windows. I opened the game the other day, and it sounded like this laptop was about to explode trying to load it.

The problems started with Shadowlands, and I bet they were aware of it. That would explain the illogical loading screens and having to fly between zones. There’s more travel time in Shadowlands than actual play-time.

I hope they get this fixed. Dragonflight is a terrific expansion and would actually be a fitting end to the game if they wanted to start from scratch. It might be time. How they keep it running, I don’t know. You’ve got areas of the game from 2004 where the code must be a flat out mess, and it’s mixing with newer technologies. They either need to upgrade and keep it going or maybe it really is time for a new era here. When are they going to release WOW 2? A modern version? I would love to see that in my lifetime.

This has been driving me nuts. I’ll be playing along nicely and all of a sudden studder studder frame rate drop and then back to normal for awhile. The only way to make it reliably happen is to mount up on the dragon and fly a bit around Valdrakken. That almost always does it. Big PvP fights also seem to do it. And meanwhile I look at my system stats and my CPU and GPU are just chilling at like 25-35%. Is this what happens when you make a lot of diversity hires to try to make up for not firing toxic employees for years?

Thankfully FF14 exists; all the MMORPG things it does better than WoW aside, a game that I can play at 4k 144fps and zero stuttering ever.

This sounds like shader compilation stutter.

Best way to fix that is to know beforehand all the shader bytecode + pipeline state permutations needed and create them ahead of time, rather than compiling them “just-in-time” causing the render threads to stall each time a new permutation is encountered. But that would probably require a big code change.

There isn’t much users can do to fix it.

Expanding the shader cache in the gpu driver settings may help some once you’ve encountered all the permutations and compiled them, but a driver, OS, or game update can invalidate that shader cache.

Completely disabling some graphical features, like depth and compute effects, can reduce the number of permutations required and reduce the stall frequency somewhat.

Exactly! Which is what I have been stressing for the last ~2K comments. This is BLIZZARD’S issue to fix!

This has to be a Blizzard Issue.
I was running fine before and now this. I figured after today update it would resolve. Game ran fine long enough for me to kill the WB then, the freezing started up again. Can’t move a to far in game without it freezing, catching up, freezing, catching up.

What type of freezing? If the animations and world around you are still moving, that’s just network lag that can come from some bad hop between your PC and the server, or the server could be overloaded and lagging.

The sound is ok but the world complete freeze (Charcter, world, mobs, etc) and then re-renders and keep going for a bit and then freezes again.

At least they managed to get a new mount added to the store without any issues.

Yeah, not bothering renewing my sub in a week if they get their :poop: together to fix this performance issue.

Constant freezing and DCing still happening.

Another minor patch today, and nothing fixed. You know this expansion is littered with countless bugs. Why are we fixing NOTHING?

Bug for dragons flying into raz room still here.
Bug for d/cing while riding on dragons still here.
Bug for friends list going bye bye is still here.
Bug for my strafe keys randomly stop working is still here…
Bug for this stuttering mess still here.

I can go on and on. Nothing is getting fixed. Technical side of things this xpac is a total mess. What does blizzard do in this forum??

It does make one wonder, doesn’t it?

What is funny to me is WoW Classic just had an update that is super buggy as well. FPS issues and settings not saving or changing on their own. This company is a huge joke.

Ill help you because 99% people are too dumb and will even say the game is running better they also don’t show fps or understand what fps is usually, you need to take the game off dx12 and put it back to dx11 because it will freeze and tab you out randomly every few min on dx12 now, this means you lose like 10% fps or more but it wont crash nonstop anymore
