Massive stutters with DF client

In my case when the stutter happens the disk usage spikes to 100% in task manager and my memory usage stays high too. Maybe it is my faulty hard drive that is causing problem, So I have Ordered additional ram and new ssd.
When i used the console command first time it fixed my stuttering, but later that day when i started the game, stuttering came back so i tried that command again and it didn’t work after that.
Only played the starting of Shadowlands but back then it didn’t stutter at all be it in Stormwind or Oribos. Came back in pre-patch to play and the game starts to stutter, at first i thought there might be a thermal or ram issue thermals were fine when i checked the task manager the disk usage was spiking high too, so i think these two might be causing problem. I will update later when i get my parts.

The final thing I tried was updating to Windows 11, this also didn’t fix the issues. It did fix other problems I was having and now the only game with this stuttering bs is just WoW, balls in your court Blizzard. Fix it.

Sorry to hear this hasn’t been resolved for everyone, i would say 99% of my issues have been fixed. I get the occasional small hitch/stutter when in certain areas (although invasions were a total 20fps chugfest lol). Hopefully they can get it figured out because it IS a blizzard issue. Even streamers like Naguura had !performance commands in her stream the day that pre patch started.

O god I really hope this doesn’t launch like this

It will

Heads up for anyone sick of this sh!t FFXIV has a free login campaign going currently =)

Also cant stress enough how happy I am I didn’t preorder this mess. Maybe I’ll come back when they hire some actual staff to fix issues and talk with the community.

Oh how far you’ve fallen Blizzard… your a shell of the company you used to be, back in the day something like this would be met with game time comp and a blue at least keeping people informed on what the problem is. But now? They focus on store mounts and pushing out half @ssed patches that take waaaay longer than they should to be released.

Good luck to everyone my sub runs out soon and I’m not resubbing till this problem gets a little more attention.

I feel like if a faulty hard drive was everyone’s problem, we wouldn’t be able to run other games, yeah?

Exactly. I also ran health check on hard drives across many systems showing no issues, and they never reach 100% like few others claim. All Blizzard has to do is look at the code difference between Sl and pre-patch and find out what changed.

I think it’s related to the view distance and something they’ve done with loading assets (perhaps they reduced what’s rendered in the distance, hoping to increase performance, and messed up).

The game has become pretty much unplayable for me because of this, don’t know what Blizzard changed, but they need to change it back…

It’s definitely doing something weird to my disk drive, but that’s not consistent across every game. So whatever they did, retail WoW is making it twitchy.

Never preorder

Ok strange thing I am fixed. I decided to go into the Graphics section and turn just about everything on. I don’t think that in itself fixed it, but I noticed that the Graphics Card option was set to Auto Detect. I switched that to the Graphics card that controls my specific monitor and I am stutter and lag free. Just went to kill DoomWalker and no lag at all. I pray that it helps some of you. Happy Thanksgiving.

This is one of the first things we did sadly, doesn’t help.

Yeah I did it also but did it in the NVIDIA control panel only and not in the game. perhaps some setting in the games graphics panel I clicked? I got soifrustrated and just maxed everything out. Ultra everything that would let me and enabled vertical sync and Anti-aliasing to advanced. Image based resolution to FXAA High. Multismaple Techniques to Clor 8x

Update:
Just got my RAM and installed it in system. The Stutter seems to be gone for now, i don’t know if it will return as i play the game. The game is much smoother and playable now. Everything loads fast from loading screen to players, even though i am still on my HDD. If you have spare RAM and SSD/HDD lying around try swapping those, may be it will fix your problem.

still can’t play the game i paid for

I test prebuild PCs for a living, and since the pre-patch hit, I test WoW on them as well. They all got the same issues described here, even putting every graphic setting off/low, the stutters and pop-ins occur even on systems that have 4090/13900k.

I just bought a new computer 2 days ago.
I9-13900K
rtx-3090
1200w power supply
DDR4 64G of Ram
Crucial P5 Plus 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 SSD
window 11

Having massive fps drop for a second and back to normal randomly, this happens every 10 to 20 min. And it doesn’t matter where I am, it just happen ramonly.
Feels like everything freeze for a micro second and then back to smooth gameplay.

this only happen when I play wow. All other games are fine, even red dead redemption 2 with ultra setting.

I tried delete addon, yet nothing
and every driver is up to date.

I ran MSI afterburner and couldn’t find anything wrong with it.
CPU temperature and CPU usage are normal during the spike.

Every other game works flawlessly besides WoW I’m not gonna buy new ram for this game rofl. It’s prob placebo anyways no offense, I played FFXIV with not a single hitch yesterday and I’ve been playing some other single player stuff no issues. Blizz just needs to get their sh!t together.
