Massive stutters with DF client

Yeah been having issues with frame drops and stuttering since the prepatch as well

i9-10900k
RTX 2080s
64 GB RAM
Win 10

Issues seem particularly prevalent in going to new areas, or especially entering cities and towns. If I fly into stormwind, or even go out to do the hallows end events my FPS just starts to stutter and tank. Particularly once the camera starts spinning, or you get in range to ‘load in’ the people and stuff.

Turned off all addons to be sure and updated vid card to the latest drivers available, and still no change.

On top of that I noticed that certain graphical option settings are not being respected, such as Max Background FPS, which I leave on the default 30fps when I tab over to my other monitor to do something else. Watching the fps counter now it just keeps chugging along even in the background.

This was happening even in the beta, seems like blizz didnt fix it and now its happening to many ppl in the pre-patch.
I installed the beta 30 min ago, tried it and i have stuttering too.
I am playing wotlk classic without problem, played like entire Shadowlands xpac without problems and just started to happening today after the pre-patch.
Blizz just have to fix it, this is not a hardware problem and it should be fixed by them.
I dont think we can do something to fix it, at least, i tried so many things and they didnt work. We have to wait for them to do something.

Same issue here:
Intel i9 9900k @5Ghz
AMD Radeon RX 6800XT
32GB Corsair Ven DDR4-3200
1TB WD Black NVME
Win11 (latest updates and video drivers)
(all addons disabled and fresh install of WoW client)

THIS ISSUE was reported on the PTR by myself and others… Nice to see they listened.

Moving around is the issue.

I went through 30 toons doing mission tables, with no problems. Out in the world, any input for movement when the stutter hits completely locks up my client. This happens ev 5 mins on average.

When I say lockup, I mean it. Nothing will kill the process. I even got a developer tool from ms called ‘process explorer’. Ran as admin, and even that would not stop wow.exe from running.

My PC will only run 3 copies of wow.exe at once, so after 3 lockups I have to reboot.

same here. fps never drops below 120 but i get these horrid stutters whenever a new mob comes near me, or worse, multiple players. It never happened on DF beta, or the previous retail patch that was live.

Same issue with random stuttering although it will always happen when zoning and entering combat. Framerate is fine otherwise. Tried with addons and with all addons disabled.

I5 9600k
RX5700 XT w/ latest drivers (22.10.2). Tried a factory re-install as well.

Same issue here as well. The game is very smooth but when moving around/targeting new mobs/panning the camera etc, extreme stutters hit.

I reported this issue on PTR and on the PTR forums as well prior to the patch going live but obviously nothing was actioned.

My system is Windows 11 22H2/RTX 3090/Ryzen 9 5950x/32Gb DDR 3200/NVMe SSD/latest nVidia drivers and all updates.

My thoughts exactly… How could they let this through ?

Out of curiosity, is your Disk usage maxing out during these stutters? My SSD is maxing out at 100% usage every single time new environment data is loaded.

It’s not just newer systems experiencing this.

I’m on a Ryzen 5 3600 8 core CPU, Radeon RX XFX 580 8GB GPU, 16GB DDR4, 2TB SSD - The only issues I’m having are the ones everyone else is describing, but I noticed my SSD is maxing out at 100% when the stuttering happens. My GPU and CPU are normal.

Same issues here on a 5600X with a 3070

came here to see if it was just my system or an actual issue.
but yeah i’ve been experiencing this as well, huge stuttering.
and in LFR whenever the fight starts I get a freeze of anywhere between 2-10 seconds right as everyone unloads their initial volleys. and then again when the boss dies and the loot windows pop up there is another big stutter.

I suspect there’s a texture loading issue. I do have Resizable BAR enabled, not sure if it matters. This has been an issue on the beta for a while now and I’m surprised it made it live.

What bothers me the most about this is that wow released the patch with a clear performance issue that has a large effect on the gameplay experience that they knew about since beta

Their is no acknowledgemenet of the issue from the Devs or a GM and no sign of a fix on the horizon

But they had plenty of time to fix this, theirs no way it wasn’t reported in beta in the forum’s and through bug reports and on the PTR

Theirs no excuse for this

A bit unrelated, but I just came back to the game. I’m seeing Kyrian NPC models running around except… they’re green… Is this something some people are experiencing issues with or? Not sure if I can upload a screenshot here, but I’ve looked everywhere in order to see if it’s a problem with my system, or certain people are having the issue. It doesn’t effect performance, but since I can’t find anything, I’m wondering if it’s an underlying issue with my system or game.

Agree. I reported it on a number of occasions on the PTR cycle although I didn’t have beta access. I can’t say I’m surprised it went live; issues as glaring as this get overlooked by Blizzard all the time :frowning:

This is what I have too and it’s been like that on Beta ever since I tried that.

The same stuttering happens even if I go to like a starting area in vanilla zones. It’s like loading in textures or something, same problem in Beta. If I stand still, move around camera like crazy, after it’s smooth - until I move a certain distance.

The game is unplayable for me. I can barely get 6fps just standing in Oribos and same thing occurs with no addons installed. I tried beta and WOTLK tonight and both are fine. Day before prepatch I could comfortably sit at 100-110fps while questing in zereth mortis at 4k resolution on graphics setting 10 with ray tracing disabled. Even in highly populated areas I could get 80-90 fps.
