Massive piles of corpses (mob)?

Okay, I saw something twice yesterday that had me a little confused.

The first time was questing a low-level alt in Durotar, heading to the river to search for some orc’s son (aka going to kill crocolisks). I get to the river and there were 30+ crocolisk corpses in the general area. My alt is a skinner. Not one of them was available to skin, usually meaning loot was left on them.

The second time was on the same character, but arriving in Thunder Bluff. At the base, near where the DMF settles, was another collection of 30+ corpses, this time of the wolves and prowlers. Again, none were skinnable, as if they were killed but not looted.

In neither case was there anyone in the vicinity, no one pulling more.

So … does anyone know what that’s about? Is it some sort of speed leveling thing? Is it a sign of a bot that overloaded its inventory and was too stupid to stop?

There are many bots that are just grinding around and not collecting loot, leaving corpses behind.

You’ll notice they have strange names and hunters have pet with chinese names.

A lot of players themselves will mass kill, and only take the meat
or the quest drop, and leave the bodies with anything else inside

Not sure what’s going on but the ones outside tb are not despawning. Bunch of coyotes, cougars and one poor Kodo calf.

think they respawn slower if the corpses are left with loot inside
have to wait till corpse times out.
long time if contains loot
shorter if only not skinned
fastest if skinned and corpse times out immediately
Least that is what it seems like to me

It’s the same with my server.

There was a ton of dead crocs on the Durotar Bridge that leads to the Barrens. They been there for i wanna say a week now.

This is what you get when you don’t address questing bots.

it takes around 5 minutes to despawn an unlooted corpse i believe. When i was devilsuar leather farming i got mad at the alliance for making me take some extra time to farm my set so i sort of camped them/the mob till it despawned.

That may be the looted timer though.

This is a hunch, but there seems to be a despawning bug on the edges where zones overlap. I’ve noticed these piles of bodies In these spots, and I think it has to do with how each zone is its own instance now.

I saw a pile of basilisks in STV, and there’s a couple of dead plague spreader zombies on the bridge from Duskwood into STV that have been there for a week as well.

Yeah, this too. There’ve been corpses of scorpids and boars sitting in the entry to Orgrimmar for hours - the same one, every time I run in or out.

These are definitely lasting a lot longer than that. Having gone up and down that river trying to find crocs to kill, the other odd thing is how many there are. There are many times more than spawn in the entire length of the river. By the time more respawned and were pulled all the way there, to create that large a number, even unlooted ones would normally have despawned.

Ah! I didn’t think about that possibility. Yeah, every situation I’ve seen has been on one of those edges.

I think a lot of people reading this don’t quite understand what the OP is saying. There is clearly some kind of bug. If you go down to the south fury river between durotar and the barrens there are literally hundreds of crocolisk corpses; they have been there for hours, if not days.
