I think most players are good people and want to follow the rules. For the majority of players i refuse to believe that a simple warning would not be enough to make them use the services channel. Most don’t know (you have to join it) and a 7 day silence or a 7 day ban is ludicrous.
Any hope of ethics, morals, or regulations for Blizzard game is dust in the wind now.
Microsoft gave a $1M donation to you know who so their business can run free.
This is a grand way to destroy social interaction and make Wow a de facto solo game. Now as to why they’d want to do that? No clue, it makes no sense.
Don’t believe you received a 7 day silence or ban for your first infraction. There is a 0% chance this is true. 0.
You’re fooling yourself, we wouldn’t have the gold buying and other issues with bots if people weren’t constantly looking for ways around the rules. All those service sellers, they would most definitely spam the LFG channel if they could, and when caught they would simply just claim it was a mistake.
Really the only bad part of this is that people actually have to take the time and effort to report a lot of the chat spam, instead of some AI service that could scrub the text, then kick and suspend the person who violated the polciy on the spot without needing anyone to bother reporting it.
It is a problem because the gold seller botting network all exploits it to eliminate anybody that would mess with their territory, or call out anything in chat.
Of course, the system needs to be done away with. There’s no question about it.
Stop selling boosts in general chat.
Deserved silence.
I don’t want to see it. I specifically don’t join the services channel to avoid the spam.
I copped a 7 day chat ban for telling a cheater(Gold Buyer) to shut the front door but a different acronym.
If that’s the rule then follow it.
The problem with automated reporting is that the appeal system takes longer than the chat restriction lasts.
I received a 7 day chat restriction and had literally 0 clue why. I don’t use gamer words, I don’t swear, I mostly only talk in guild chat or on Discord.
I emailed Blizzard and it took them 13 days to respond to the ticket. At that point the chat restriction was complete anyways.
cursing is bad, mmkay
You were selling dmt loot weren’t you.
Blizzard is lazy and rather than actually look into what’s being said if a certain amount of people report you you are banned.
So if you don’t like someone just get your entire guild to report them for no reason and they will get banned.
Awesome company eh? It’s not like we pay for their services.
Blizzard Fan Boi’s will always defend Blizzards poor service and bad decision’s.
Mass reporting isn’t a thing. This is a myth people make up because they refuse to take accountability for their poor behavior.
Despite this being propagated daily, there is still no evidence that mass report bans actually exist.
However, there are multiple case studies on the CS forums of people alleging they were banned from mass reporting, only for a CSM to confirm they were banned for other, unrelated unacceptable behaviour.
that is why we use discord, not in-game chat.
To anyone following, OP did take this to the CS forums and has already had a response.
OP has had no actions on their acccount. This is all a speculative conversation about action that has happened to another user.
IE - OP heard from a friend that they were totally banned from mass reports for no reason. Sounds legit.
I saw. was not flattering to watch the attempt at rules lawyering.
I almost never talk in game, I Que for rated pvp and farm mounts in the old areas myself, I only speak in bg blitz when we need to win to advance in rankings. 10 days suspension over one word that was reported. This forum will also gang up on you if you want to share the account suspension experience like it is taboo. Opening a ticket won’t change the result they will auto close your case, won’t give anny details and keep the same punishment.
