Mass Reporting by strangers leading to auto-bans

Why is this not being talked about?
I just recieved a warning from yesterday or earlier today, after being mass reported by a raid group abusing in-game systems. I told them Im gonna ‘Collect my loot too kus its a W for me’ and was mass reported.

The system is automated and customer support can do nothing about it, even with video/photo evidence. What the hell?

Every time someone posts about this I have to doubt their intentions.

Are you really being griefed or did you deserve it?

Because it doesn’t happen?

A GM has to manually hit the ‘ban’ or ‘silence’ button after an investigation. The only automated part is the squelch which is a temporary silence pending an investigation.

If action was taken on your account, you probably said more than you’re currently letting on! Time passed doesn’t play a factor either: If you did something bad it can catch up to you eventually.

A warning is not an account action. That is an automated notification system to tell the user that they have been reported multiple times for a specific reason. You have to be investigated by a GM and manually actioned in order to suffer any penalty.

I can understand where you’re coming from, but like I said, I have photos of everything.
It was a group mass fishing lunkers getting upset bc I was tagging them.
Told them I’m #1 advocate for fishing and fixing the issue with harpooning, Told them I’m gonna keep tagging so I can get my loot too, as its not fair for others to Monopolize this area. and said “Gonna keep tagging bc getting loot free is a W for me”

A warning isn’t a “ban” so which was it?

Well, if you truly did nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about: You will receive the warning if a large number of people reporting you. Outside of this nothing happens.

Usually if someone is reported a whole bunch they’re doing something that the community as a whole finds is in violation of ToS. Keep in mind in regards to infractions GMs really don’t like false reports: It makes their job harder and clogs up the ticket system.

So, again, a warning doesn’t mean you’re in trouble!

I’m stating what is put in the ‘warning’ sent to me, further reports may lead to a suspesion.
And after looking into the suspension system, its entirely automated so says the FAQ neways.

A suspension is not automated, a silence/squelch is. So I have no clue what you read.

Well I’m glad to hear, the actual BAN/SILENCE system isn’t automated, they really should update the FAQ. It makes it sound like you’re just… screwed lol.

This sounds like you were griefing people?

Let me paint the picture a bit better.
I’m fishing/harpooning.
Raid Group is fishing/harpooning.
I’m unable to harpoon my own fish because 40 people yoink it amongst the other 15 lunkers in the area.
I pistol shot some fish to get tags for loot.

Ensue the convo about above. Mass reports for Language
Under normal circumstances yeah I could call it griefing, but its more the pot calling the kettle black.

So why do you think you get a pass on griefing?

Because I’m not griefing when I’m going after my own loot and failing to do so vs 40 people so I do what is necessary to ensure I also get loot.

*EDIT And I didn’t get reported for griefing, because of the ‘pot calling the kettle black’ scenario, they reported me for language. They know they’re monopolizing a system and don’t want to draw attention to the monopoly grief.

You say it’s griefing, but then say it’s okay, because people are grouped up? That’s not how this works. Join a group like others do.

And you were reported for language because the right click report options are so limited.

Well as I stated, I’ve done nothing wrong just wanted clarification on the systems, no point talking about it further. I appreciate the input. Back to Fishing I go

There are 3 sides to every story; your side, their side and the truth.

I was selling items in trade chat and a guild didn’t like my prices. They mass reported me and I was muted for it. I did open a ticket after and get them all temp banned for harassing me, but it’s still disappointing that Blizzard won’t pay real people to work.

The auto-mute is sadly necessary because otherwise someone might go on a 4chan rant for hours until a GM has time to look at their situation.

Sounds like the system works :dracthyr_shrug:

Yes. You did. You even admitted that you did.
