Masked profanity

Is masked profanity still against the rules on the forum or are acronyms of well-known phrases that contain curse words okay now? I’m not going to call him out but there is a user on this forum who has ended 171 of his posts with a three letter acronym that is commonly known as blah the world.

I’m curious if it’s alright for me to start posting these acronyms without having to worry about getting suspended.

Sure that’s not a For The Win?

Unless you can report the context of use, which ultimately is important… Probably not… In fact my guess would be without the use context you very well might become subject to admonishment for abuse of the reporting system.

Idk how well-known I’d call your alternate interpretation of that acronym. Every time I have seen it used, it’s been intended as, and taken as ‘For The Win’.

As always, context matters. But I’d not go around posting things intended to be naughty, if I were you.

I actually googled it. Curious. There IS a way in which FTW has a vulgar meaning. But its only used among Bikers, and not used online.

FTW means “For the Win”

Not “Frack the world”

I’ve never heard that the acronym for “for the win” was a masked profanity, like ever.

You mean Ftw?

Yeah… no… that means For the win.

I was trying to avoid raising any eyebrows from mods by explaining the meaning I found. But yes, when stated online, FTW does mean “for the win” unless you’re talking with a bunch of bikers of course.

As long as you don’t “offend” a snowflake you can probably get by with it.

As to the acronym…that’s a new one. I always thought it meant For The Win.

It depends on how many people report you, OP. FTW

Maybe “for the win” is his signature. I don’t use those because forum signatures are perceived as kind of 2008.

It doesn’t matter, because anything can get you banned on these over-automated mob-rule forums.

But the swearing will probably make it happen faster.

Next time someone picks on me for hiding my profile (and thus post history), I’m pointing to them to this overly specific, not at all creepy and stalkerish snippet…

you can hide your profile? i don’t want to but you can?

Forum signatures are cringy enough in old forums that still support adding them automatically, but the people who force it by pasting something at the end of all of their posts manually are on a whole other level.

Dude he was pointing out has a hidden profile, fwiw. The 171 instances of that acronym are everyone who has said it on this forum.
