So, with the recent updates to blood fixes, marrowrend is in the dirt. (which sucks cause you have to take this talent).
What if the skill was changed slightly? Make it cleave for example (50% damage for all targets not the main target ect).
Or what if it had an interaction similar to shattering bone maybe?
For example, if you are already at max stacks (or Marrowrend would put you over the max) Then the extra stacks that would be wasted will instead explode, causing shadow damage like shattering bone?
Thoughts?

Heart Strike already cleaves and does pretty good damage with the new changes
Your second idea would encourage using Marrowrend over everything else
Marrowrend works as intended, there’s no need to change it
Marrowrend has it’s place in the rotation. It is just more efficient to use DC since we are required to maintain the buff from DC. The new playstyle has a nice fluid feel to it.
Can someone care to explain to me why Death’s Caress is so important?
I just started playing Blood DK (I’m a DK veteran but always dps) and the tooltip basically just said it spreads BP and adds two charges of Boneshield. However with Marrowrend it gives you 3 charges and you can still use Blood Boil to spread diseases.
am I missing something?
Death’s Caress is a more efficient way to maintain Bone Shield, since it only costs one rune.
But it’s in a 6 second CD, meanwhile I can spam Morroend assuming I have runes. I’d rather just drop that talent and spend the point in something else.

All you have to do is keep charges above 5 stacks. With slappy hands and ERW and DRW you won’t be lacking for bone shield stacks.

You could do that… if you want to starve yourself of RP since you’re spending runes on that instead of Heart Strike.
If you’re playing properly, you’ll almost never need to cast Marrowrend.

To get to 5 stacks you only need Marrowrend once (3 stacks), then DC (2 stacks) and 3 runes remain to be used on Heartstrike.
If you have no charges of bonesheild then you messed up somewhere with all the way to generate stacks.
I meant that would be the case if one has 0 charges, like before pulling / starting the dungeon.
It’s also typically used as your pull in dungeons. The added bonemarrow stacks are really nice here because it’ll also save you a gcd when pulling. Blood likes to maintain bone shield from pull to pull and casting caress will reset the buff timer.

Death’s Caress gives charges at range…unless its a raid boss.
I agree. Bone shield doesn’t lose stacks so quickly, nothing to really worry about, not too difficult staying above 7 stacks.
