Anyone else think blizzard should give 2 or 3 talent points to marksmanship or unlock some abilities in marksmanship tree ? I think they are very underperforming, they lost their burst ,and is a very secondary stat hungry class , right now for me they got less utility , burst and consistent damage than in shadowlands by too much , they need at least 3 extra talent points to make it work and some flat haste
Ive been playing MM in BGs for the last few days. My problem is there are so many gap closers with most classes that we cant really kite anymore.
Overall though I see some of my crits have been 100k aginst similarly grared players. I dont know if thats good or not. The other problem i see is we have DPS classes with 8 mil in dmg and 5 or 6 mil in healing.
Not long ago you needed to have the 3 different classes (the holy trinity is what my friend calls it) for proper balance.
Yea disengage is pretty bad compared with like double charge, leap, range stun, spell reflect trap etc. I have been saying it for a while that MM hunter needs some better spell mobility like sliding around etc.
The bottom of the MM tree is just really bad for pvp IMO. There is nothing super interesting or an ability that is super useful for PVP. Wailing arrow if it actually silence players and was instant cast might be useful but as it stands there is nothing at all interesting about the MM tree in my opinion.
I was expecting some Powershot like ability that crunched the numbers like in MOP or some mobility or some fun CC, but it really is a dead tree.
So many passives around Aim shot and if you pick all of them it doesnt even make aimshot feel good to press, in my opinion the BM tree and survival tree are in far better states.
Not disagreeing that MM can still pump out the dmg. Just saying we need more abilities for kitting and the like for pvp due to so many other classes have a lot of gap closers is all.
Overall MM is still fun in BGs, especially ashran when you get the books. Who doesnt want to stand on top of a tower and be able to attack from what sems like a quarter of the map. I know its not that far just seems like it
What you are not considering is with conquest gear release versatility will go up , stamina will go up while stats like crit and haste will go down , so when people get full geared your burst will go down by a lot , with the current pvp system conquest gear will scale to it’s Maximun since the start in arenas no matter the rating , for example you now do 90k aimed shot with double tap , when everyone get full conquest gear you will do 60k while their health will be about 350k or higher , imagine fury warriors with all their gap closer or dh while using a hunter
Bro you are attacking no vers questers… shoot some solo shuffle videos and post them against people with the same gear, cause on the beta mm was swamp compared to most other classes in fair pvp situations like arena
I could shoot a video of my mage one shotting questers and it would mean nothing. Stuff like that detracts from actual issues mm has in actual competitive ranked pvp. Ele dham hitting 400k right now so numbers are crazy without finalized tuning and low vers. When people talk about mm pvp and the issues they dont mean ganking questers
You have to play pet as mm in pvp. You lose like 4 required spells if you dont… you lose anti heal from raptor pet, 5 second stun, freedom and sac usable while stunned.
It sucks but it is what it is, without it melee will stick on you and slam you.
People that just run lone wolf in pvp are just trying to get big numbers or get a gank off or sit in the back and hope a good player doesnt pick them off. Ranked wise lone wolf doesnt cut it and you are gimping yourself playing without it, you wont be able to kite a good geared player without pet imo jellybeans is the best mm hunter i have seen on youtube, i would check him out on hiw he kites. Note that last expac we didnt have pet stun and the glads still played with the pet so we kind of double down for pet now in df with the new addition
I pvped extensively with full conquest gear on the beta.
MM is strong. It isn’t OP, and it will be very, very good after Tuesday.
and BTW MM has some of the strongest kiting in the game and it increased in dragonflight. I do think it’d be more appropriate for classes like dhs rogues and warriors to get a bit of their mobility nerfed tbh.
Most of those videos and reviews of MM were before the 10% flat buff we got, and on tuesday we are getting another 10%.
MM’s toolkit was always great for dragonflight, its just that some other specs are just broken right now so it seems weaker.
BTW you should fix your build before you call the spec bad.

Just hit max, havent done pvp yet. But ill get hunter elite set as mm. This is my forth 70… its going to take time to build a spec, ill need to do the math. I want to know if i need to drop lonewolf and if the crit passive 2 talents dropping is viable since i play with a pet

Here is my build. It is good for solo PVP and dueling. You should run with a tenacity pet with MS. (direhorn, lizard, hippo, hydra). Make a macro with a battlemasters trinket and fortitude of the bear for a 2nd very large heal. The heal is worth losing masters call.
You know you say MM sucks at kiting but then you don’t take intim or steeltrap, and say “our end talents suck” but don’t get salvo or explosive shot. Go try my build. Salvo is incredibly strong alongside explosive shot. So is deadeye and surging shots which is also missing from your build.
You are right though, that is the one part where the MM tree sucks, we are forced to get lonewolf and waste a point. It was argued on the beta forums but didn’t get changed. I think the crit is worth losing a point on lone wolf.
I am not a glad, i am just saying what every other glad that played beta has said and that is that MM sucks in solo shuffle. Swamp level bad, the only way it can be viable is if the damage is broken.
you are talking about a 1v1 situation, against double melee in arena with cooldowns a healer its a bit different. I would love to see you kite DK\Warrior at a high rating with a hpal with lone wolf. Most good warriors reflect traps, its easy to see them in the air.
I personally dont think a 10% buff will make MM competitive enough for the average good MM in solo shuffle against other range specs like warlock, spriest or ele. They might buff MM a bit still who knows but as it stands i am doubtful.
I don’t use lone wolf, just am forced to take it due to the tree.
Most of those arena players you are citing formed their opinions before we got buffed.
You will see a lot of crying about MM on the forums just watch.
