Marksman PvP Pet or no Pet

For Marksman PvP, should I generally be using a pet or going Lone Wolf?

Use a pet. Specifically, a cunning pet like a raptor for mortal wounds debuff as well as access to master’s call. Lone Wolf simply isn’t worth the massive utility the pet brings (which also still does damage too)

For opening burst ganking in BGs, it’s worth going LoneWolf. But as soon as your opening combo is done, you should pull out the pet.

To add to this, there are three different kinds of families which fit the bill (Cunning spec with Mortal Wounds).

Raptor, like Lazy said. https://www.wow-petopia.com/family.php?id=raptor

There’s also the rodents. https://www.wow-petopia.com/family.php?id=rodent

And then there’s the hyenas. https://www.wow-petopia.com/family.php?id=hyena

There’s 9 other pet families with Mortal Wounds, but they aren’t Cunning.

Thanks all for the responses. The only benefit of going Marksman, for me personally, was to not have to deal with a pet. But it looks like a pet is used anyway to be effective. I think I will stick with BM since it’s easier to play.

I mainly do random BGs and RBGs and I reached 2039 rating with my EU character.

I dont use a pet when I’m teamfighting because I think I got more useful talents in a team setting than roar of sacrifice and pet dies to aoe. Unlike BM/SV I dont need a pet that much because I get 10% damage buff without it.

I pick roar of sacrifice and summon a pet only when I’m defending a base, expecting 1v1 or 1v2 scenarios to hold myself as long as possible.

I sometimes summon a pet in flag maps to give master’s call to my flag carrier too.

But those are the only times.

This
It isnt an absolute, always have a pet ready.
Blow you nuke then get a slow, a mortal wounds, something out there.

For MM pvp I would always keep a raptor on hand for Master’s call and Mortal wounds and I’d also keep a carrion bird around for, again, Mortal wounds, but also for the lust from Primal Rage. In a pinch you can pull the bird out, lust and then put it away without a huge downtime in larger fights.

No pet. Marks is all about killing in the opener or if not then surving until all your burst is up again. After opener summon the cunning pet if you need it for the utility. Other time I could see taking a pet in BG as Marks is basesitting. The 10% dmg is more important. We can already break roots/slows with disengage and craven

Edit: use cunning pet pet after opener. Situational. Watch jellybeans 9.0 marks guide don’t listen to level 10 warlock grombad

Then you probably have never seen a good marks in arena. Every single highrated marks uses a pet. The utility is just too strong and getting off that oneshot opener only works at your 1k rating.

Protip: You can also break roots/slows on your teammates.

Post from your main, thanks for the protip of masters call. I guess you’ve you’ve heard of using lone Wolf in opener and then instant summoning pet? Wouldn’t recommend that protip? I guess I shoulda been more specific. I was semi trolling saying if you don’t kill in opener as MM it’s GG, guess I need to point out sarcasm as well. You must not be able to detect that at level 10

Sadly not possible, im playing on EU.
But why dont you post on your main or is that already it?

Aside from that, this has nothing to do with the fact that you use a pet as mm in arena.

Opener lone Wolf 10% dmg doubletap. Summon pet after

1k rating meme strat. You dont see any highrated mm use that.

EU meme ladder. There we are even

Also Jellybeans 9.0 MM guide. So that’s 1 high rated player that uses it. Go back to classic and posting behind “I can’t show my main”. I’m not the one acting elite. Give me a name-realm I can find you

I dont know what you mean by that. US hunters use a pet too.

Thats from 6 months ago. I took the liberty to check out his lates mm video and he starts with his pet out every. single. time.

I am saying you use the pet because all the highrated hunters use it, since it is better. Im not saying to use because it i personally say so. I am not trying to use myself as proof, so i dont know why you get so riled up about it.

I am really confused about this. You try to find out my main to do what? Call me out? With your char??? I really dont wanna throw shade but you dont have any accolades with which you should go around and talk smack about other people. You shouldnt care about the person, you should care about the arguments. I guess youre just mad that you got called out, but if you still wanna rage more, my main is Aldrathor-Eredar.

It’s a situational thing. Lone Wolf was only added to appease those that just wanted to play a ranger type. As far as DPS, both are relatively close. Which does more damage will depend entirely on who you ask, because it varies.

That being said, a pet brings a lot of extra utility but they die very fast in PvP. If your pet is dead, you don’t get the benefit of a pet or Lone Wolf.

For me, when playing Marks I go Lone Wolf most of the time and only pull out the pet if I need something in that toolkit for that specific situation.

Umm dude you literally came at my throat with the "that may work at YOURq

That mightve been a bit uncalled for, ill give you that. However it is really annoying to see people give bad advice, especially with such confidence. My answer was a bit spicy, but things gotta get corrected.
And cmon, Grombad? Is this kindergarden?

This is true, but its because your pet is still summoned/dead. If you click “rez pet” once but immediately stop casting, your dead pet is automaticallyy dismissed and you start getting lone wolf stacks again. It takes 20 seconds to get to 10%, but still.
