I have a few Toons. Just took my Marksman Hunter out for a run. WTF Blizz? Marksman Hunter can no longer use Call Pet? But I have the Whistles and it shows the pets but I can’t call them? I Love this game, but it is getting so messed up and confusing. Collecting Mats, and I can usually go into low level Dungeons, btu level 60 toon, npcs are level 30, run into Uldaman and the NPS are LEVEL 80! And I find out Blizz has taken away my Pet.
Unbreakable Bond is 3 down the middle. Also if you grab that talent, ignore all other talents that mention “spotting” as they won’t do anything with a pet active.
I Dumped Marksman. Just make my Hunters Beastmaster or Survival. I don’t get what the purpose was of doing this change. Relly, what was the reason? I had one each in each realm, now I won’t.
From what I was told it was a DPS loss in raids/M+ because you had to call your pet to lust and dismiss it then wait for your Lone Wolf damage to stack. Blizzard basically removed the busywork of going through all of that and now MM has a lust ability of its own.
Why would that have been necessary for just the Marksman not the other hunters? But I found the Unbreakable Bond and had to reset my talents and clean up my action bar. Now I will go sulk and eat chocolate in the corner cause I got annoyed.
What other hunter spec had Lone Wolf?
The Marksman is my favorite. I think it is the most agile and powerful. The Beast Master enables the collecting of Exotic pets. But I prefer the attacks of the Marksman. I don’t like a cluttered action bar. To many choices and I tap the wrong one.
Still objectively one of the top 3 worst decisions Blizzard has ever made.
It should not be a talent, period.
On top of that, most of the people who wanted pets back wanted them for Delves, but the talent SPECIFICALLY doesnt give the call pet bonus in delves, only in outdoor content. Lmao.
Really not hard to just make it so if we summon our pet, we lose the 15% added bonus to spotters mark and gain +pet damage if we are not in a group. It’s literally THAT simple.
Lone wolf was the more popular pick.
Pet ai is super irritating. Every mm hunter I know or talk to play mm so they don’t have to deal with pets.
Mostly because mm pets were spec fluff. They don’t generate focus or participate in combat beyond auto attack, holding threat and some utility.
Tbh they are comparable to frost mage elemental.
And just like lone wolf, most mages went lonely winter to rid themselves of their pet.
Surv, the pet generates focus and cds are based around you and the pet.
Bm, the spec is built around pets.
Another good comparison is locks.
Demo is akin to bm. Destro/surv. Afflic/mm.
Afflic locks pretty much only use a pet to sacrifice for a buff.
Eh nothing really changed other than they just swapped around lonewolf. Instead of having to talent into it, its baseline. And you simply talent into having a pet.
It scratched a long needed itch for many.
You are objectively wrong and subjectively correct.
You can’t pass your own bias off as fact.
Its easier to balance as a talent. “Its literally that simple”.
It was the more popular pick because it was the higher dps option. So that statistic alone tells us nothing about how people feel about pets. If it had been higher dps to use a pet then lone wolf would have seemed like a dead talent.
Just the beginning. Even beastmaster is losing its pet in an update coming soon.
It tells you that people would rather have higher DPS than a pet.
It tells you precisely everything needed to be known. DPS > pocket-taunt-bot pet.
That’s not necessarily true. Whenever I played mm I picked lw purely to rid myself of the pet. Same when I was a frost mage.
Even as an ele shaman. I hate when elementals are good picks. Then your dps is dependent on their ai.
Especially the older elementals where you controlled their abilities.
And as an unholy main… god the ghoul ai… so many pathing problems. Or the abom meandering in slow motion across the room if the tank happens to reposition.
I do not have that much chocolate to handle wat you said. Do I have to pull out he Ice cream?
You went into the wrong entrance.
Kinda made me put down SV Hunter tbh, it was fun. But there are these fearmongers in delves that can fear your pet. Feared pet = no Kill Command
And yeah, not interested in dealing with the AI so I just picked up my Rogue again.
Well that’s my whole point. Different people have different preferences. But at the end of the day the majority of people will compromise on their preference for optimal performance. At least in group content. Which is why the fact that lone wolf was taken more than not doesn’t really tell us one way or another whether it was actually more popular.
That there was such a backlash to pets being removed is a good indicator that a lot of people just want their pets around because they like them. Just like how a lot of mage players are still begging for their permanent water elemental back.
Sorry, what do you mean?
They would have to first rework entirely how pets works for MM. Aside from utility (taunt, master’s call, etc), they provide nothing for MM DPS. They are literally just a single target dot (and a weak one) with pathing issues.
They could be tunned to be on par with LW in ST situations, but they would never be better for AoE/M+.
