Seeing Marks hunters absolutely blasting and out DPS’ing people they’re 30+ ilevel below in mythic 0’s atm. There’s no way marks isn’t getting nerfed, lol. Its fun but oh man I don’t think this is going to last.
I thought this was just a PvP thing lol.
You’re all absolutely dominating ranked BG damage meters because you can jsut delete people’s health bars.
I’m a jealous and bitter BM hunter who wants MM to get nerfed!! They dont deserve to have fun!!!
I’m hoping they don’t over-nerf it if they do decide to, because MM hasn’t been good in so long and it’s nice to have that variety back in PvP otherwise it’ll just be Surv/BM hunters forever again.
Not without a pet survivability increase
they nerf mm hunters are dead in pvp 100%
only reason mm can work is because we have lone wolf and no pet interactions
bad rouggy dies bad mm hunters kill you across the map
M0 works in favor of MM’s damage profile–bursty, on demand AOE. The enemies’ health pools are so low since it’s just M0, so it’s definitely gonna make MM look OP. For example, DOT classes just won’t shine this way. In M+, where health pools will significantly be higher, MM DPS will look somewhat worse as our sustained AOE DPS is inferior.
Well, the game isn’t balanced around level 38.
I play BM, but I’m sure MM will be fine
Well, the OP did mention M0, so…
This is all simply unfounded.
I’ll say this – Marksman damage is very frontloaded. If a trash pack lives for 18 seconds, then Marks seems very strong (as do some other classes as well). Over the course of a longer fight, things will even out.
Single target is more of the same. Sure, we can open strong, but other classes can open even stronger. If a boss lives for a minute vs if a boss lives for three minutes is a very different thing.
I certainly didn’t ask for this damage-dealing profile, but it’s what we were given. In the current state of the game, and around some less-skilled folks in mythics, we might look too strong. But in reality, it’s just simply not true.
Been running UH DK with a Ret Paladin. Short fights - dude absolutely obliterates the meters. The longer the fight goes, I pass him. I suspect as things scale up, MM damage will normalize.
MM is fine as is. All it really needs is for double tap to break camo.
I didnt realize double tap from camo was breaking pve
Its mythic 0s… everything dies instant hello…?
who? honestly I dont think even Sub rogues can pump out more damage in the first 5 secs. we have literally unmatched burst in our open
what, were you looking to heal?? sorry I had too lol
First five seconds no – because of double tap and aimed shot precasting – that’s a no-brainer.
Shadow can open hard. UH can open hard. Ret can open HELLA hard. Arms can open hard. Frost mage can open hard. Look at some streams of single target raid encounters from groups comprised of highly-skilled individuals. You’ll see, yes Marks opens hard in the first 5 seconds, like you say, but 18 seconds in, 45 seconds in, the bars all shift and everything equalizes.
And regarding the damage profile – no I wasn’t looking to heal. But the damage could have been baked in elsewhere. It is what it is – a secondary-power using, cooldown-based dps class. Of course we can open hard.
most people are dead after 5. you said others can open harder. in terms of pvp its that first 5 seconds that counts. burst windows last 10 secs at the most. So, for pvp there is absolutely noone doing close to 20k damage in the first 5 secs
Is this conversation about mythic0 like the original post suggests, or should we talk PVP openers against undergeared, non-vers-stacking players?
In either event, I think damage as a whole needs lowered in pvp. Whether that’s through gear or the trinket set bonus being adjusted, or what, is a topic for another discussion. I’ll say this, related to PVP, take out that near-dead burst that marks has, and it’s left with nothing. There is no sustained pressure there. The burst should hurt, and should be scary. But like I said, many classes can get guaranteed kills right now with their CD’s up.
I’ve played MM and its fun, but inherently I am a BM guy. MM front-loaded damage could use some tweaking, but over-nerfing them will leave them DOA in pvp. A little “tuning” may be needed, however.
This is false. most classes can do 20K burst inside this window. Hell, I left my pve gear on for a pvp world quest and a Ret did 16K in two back to back judgements and hit me for a 9K reckoning before that.
