Marking Healers

I was just wondering what people thought about healers being marked with the raid icons in BGs. When I am the instance leader, I generally mark the healers.

Does anyone even find this useful? Are you more likely to find your healer and run to them if you need help? Are you more likely to peel for them if you see them being attacked?

If you’re a healer, does it annoy you to be marked without being asked? I ask this because there are people out there who do actually hate it.

Also, if you’re a healer, does it help to find out where the others healers are for you? Does it help you determine if there are too many healers in one area more easily?

I find it helpful but otoh, I wouldn’t want it above me either. I found it distracting when it was done to me one time. If there was a player option to not show it on me I think that would be great.

I used to mark the healers, but too many complained. Now I just mark myself and select the “make everyone leader” option.

I don’t think it helps with peels, but it does tend to embolden the DPS if they know a healer is near.

Just mark them. I do it when I’m lead and when I heal, I appreciate being marked.

I use the addon the clearly marks healers (enemy and friend) but most obviously don’t use that.

Alliance is generally allergic to marking

I’ve see others say this. I found it a bit distracting at first, but I’ve gotten used to it.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone complain in my BGs. That’s odd. Then again, I’ve only seen and started the marking thing more recently.

Do you find it helpful though when it does happen?

I’ve seen a couple people saying to get that mark off their head. I almost wonder if they think the enemy can see it and so they get annoyed?

I think most who complain probably find it distracting. I wonder if those people raid. Lol Definitely are used for raiding.

I don’t see how it is distracting. Not that i’m marked all the time, but have had it once or twice.

Sarcasm aside when I do see it on alliance the person marking will usually yell at the group to peel so I like to think it helps lol.

I don’t either. I mean, maybe at first it was, but not anymore. I’m too busy watching everything else to notice. I see it on the other healers though, and I find it helpful.

When I get lead, I mark healers including myself. I’ve had people yell at me before, one even leaving the battleground. I explained that the enemy can’t see the marker, it’s purely for our team to identify you so they can (hopefully) help us out.

8/10 times that explanation works and normally get a thanks. The other two are people that don’t believe or say it messes with their transmog. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

But hey that’s ALLIANCE BAY-BEEEE!!

I love it when the healers are marked

I start off most BG’s naming our healers and reminding DPS to peel and naming enemy healers class and name.

Lots of people don’t like to get marked so sometimes I don’t bother. It’s a good idea for all the reasons that OP mentioned

Get the HHTD addon… if your healers are getting ganked , it shouts in big large letters what’s happening

Well, sometimes it’s more so people even know where the healer is. I hate when people LOS me or run away from me as I’m sprinting after them.

And, as someone else mentioned, people seem to be more bold in their fighting if they know they have a healer nearby. As in, people might actually push a node. Or not run off.

I don’t think many ppl expect to be healed in anything other than the big mid fight … you are pretty much on your own with third wind potions , healthstones and healing potions after that. Helps if you play a hybrid class and can heal yourself too

It’s a good practice, it’s good for them as it increases your team’s situational awareness somewhat. They can suck it up, and enjoy the benefits.

I wish they were always marked so I could cc for them. I always have heals on focus but the mark would better help me determine when they are more quickly for said cc.
