The game is allowing Marked Flawless Battle-Stone to be consumed twice for the same pet. When a non-rare pet is targeted and upgraded to blue quality, another click on the stone stack will consume another stone without warning.
For comparison, a Flawless Battle-Training Stone will stop working on a pet when it reaches level 25 and gives a message “Your pet is already at its maximum level.”
