Why TF do you get marked as a deserter for 30min when a group kicks you? We already know how shi&&Y the wow community has become with these meta players booting you for the slightest mistake while you’re learning without even giving you the chance to get better… its dungeon finder… not M+… wtf Blizzard, fix this balogne.
Because people who didnt want to do the random dungeon they got given would just AFK until they got kicked to avoid the deserter debuff.
Because the group determined you were not a good group member, and Blizz wants to punish bad group members…obviously.
Blame blizzard for making the rest of ara kara not worth the time. Punishing players over their error early on. Btw deserter means nothing I don’t do qued group content often or I just swap to a alt
Cuz ur bad and the game wants to give everyone else a break from you.
More seriously, it’s because too many people exploited LFD and leaving after killing a boss or holding groups hostage and demanding to get kicke so they don’t get a deserter debuff.
Tanks would just queue for random and then leave any dungeon that was longer than 5 minutes. This is why deserter was implemented for kicks in the first place. Because that is exactly what happened.
Your right I still do for tw if it’s a longer 5 man like court of stars or vault I dip I just want quick clears less rp less walking less extra crap. And I’ll run a key instead or swap to an alt deserter doesn’t really stop me at all. To this day you can’t pay me all the gold in the game to run oculus
Yep, and this season it would have just been City of Threads that got that treatment.
I hate cot I have it on a 10 timed I won’t run it for tw ever if it comes up in future. Sv is not pug friendly at all
Yah, people keep bringing up the Occulus as their prime example of why kicked players should be debuffed.
Granted, this was…nearly 15 years ago?
I’ll just come out and say that I was one of those tanks that refused to do Occulus when it would pop up back during Wrath.
Why?
B/c it would end up taking all damned day and I would have to teach people how to do it…every…single…time. It just wasn’t worth the effort and it was a complete waste of my time. Sorry not sorry. In Wrath, you queued for a certain number of heroics to collect the currency you needed to maintain your gear. Outgearing them made them easier, so to have one dungeon take 200 years to run while all the others took a max of 20 minutes was just insane.
Simple fixes to this that they never implemented:
- Allow people to blacklist 1-2 dungeons so you never had to set foot in there again
- Allow the bonus XP/goodie bag on queuing for specific dungeons instead of ONLY offering it on random ones.
The “fix” they finally came up with was:
- Allow the drakes to “scale” to your current gear level (Wrath heroics never “kept up” with player power and became faceroll as you climbed the gear ladder–again you just did these for currency only) Occulus had a stupid vehicle-based fight at the end that didnt scale to your gear so it remained the same “difficulty” until like the last patch of the expansion. This means people who didnt understand it would often fail over and over and over again on it until it either finally sank in or they just left out of frustration.
The problem was they waited WAY too long to do this and it forever ruined the place for many players.
Apparently the simple fixes I mention earlier are too taboo to pose as a solution. So instead we just punish players b/c hindering another’s progress (as someone put in another thread so eloquently) is more attractive to players instead of having the devs address the root of the issues.
this started in Zul’Gurub, not in Ara-Kara.
If they did this, you’d never be able to complete the 2 longest dungeons in any given expansion. Everyone would just blacklist City Of Threads and Darkflame Cleft in TWW.
You can blacklist as many dungeons as you want. If you want the random dungeon bonus, sign up for random dungeons, and expect to stick out the random dungeon.
this.
queue specific if you want to control what dungeons you go to.
You mean oculus in wrath
well, the problem started then, but the solution came in ZG with the 15min debuff. later 30.
Zg was fine I didn’t have a problem with it. I played zg in classic and bc.
we are talking about the 5man ZG.
it’s a similar story to cata Deadmines, if you want to see cata forums.
There was no automated queuing then. It was fine in Cata when they reintroduced it, but it was substantially longer than other dungeons in the random pool, so tanks and healers often didn’t want to spend the time on it and would strand the dps there so they could queue again for a chance at a shorter dungeon.
I remember when randomly off started any long 5 man was always going to have tanks dip unless there was a item that was worth our time
