So, as all blood dks know, mark of blood has had no good reason to take it for a VERY long time now. the low heal, the auto attack stipulation, the use of a gcd for a lackluster effect, competing with tombstone for a talent point, it just isn’t good. even in pvp, when used on a fast auto attacker like a rogue or cat, i feel like the auto attacks will just outpace the heal it gives. so, i got an idea for ether a buff, or just a mild rework of the ability itself without going for a full kit rework that won’t happen any time soon.
buff idea: ether just outright buff the heal it gives to anywhere from 5%-8% per hit so it has more utility on melee focused enemies. or make it to where any hit they deal will cause the 3% heal. possibly including their pets if they have any. that might make it a bit broken in pvp, but i want tanks to have a reason to exist in pvp so screw it. or make it an aoe with a longer cd.
Edit bonus idea: if you want to keep it mostly the same, but want to give it better party utility, make the heal an aoe when the target does an auto attack. might need to be target capped a bit on this idea with some smart targeting, but this might be a better change for this ability.
the other idea for a redesign/rework of the ability i have is: give it a longer cd, possibily give it an aoe effect (not required), and make any dmg they deal heal the target for 50% of the amount instead of doing dmg for the duration (with a cap that is something like 50-75% of the casting dk’s health). its basically old mindgames, but it does not damage the targes, and goes all in on the heal effect.
i am kinda curious as to everyone’s thoughts on these changes, i know this is considered “polishing a turd”, but i have been wanting a reason to take this ability every expansion. it needs SOME kind of buff/ rework, and these are the best idea’s i have while keeping its original idea intact, so im trying to turn it into a better party utility, rather than a crappy auto attack debuff. and with the second idea, the fact that it is everyone you hit with anything, it will ether all be condensed into one target, or heal the party/ raid for some of the dk’s health, making it have both personal utility and some party cheese utility.
